Nice Toby! ...and how many times did I hear you say that you just couldn't get into a J-type bass? :D

LOL. I remember when he got his first Sadowsky and hated it. I thought he'd never get another one.

But oh man, that Modern 5 Toby has is really sweet and even though I only played it for a few minutes several years ago, I still think about it.

I'll have to visit Roger and Co in the here to near future, see if I can't get a little forgiveness and another NYC.

Yey!

One of my friends is going to be studying in the US for 6 months. I'm hoping that me and my g/f will have enough money to be able to visit her in December when she's in NY.

Would love to see both Sadowsky's and Fodera's shops. :)

For me it depends on the wood combination. I do find that the roasted necks sometimes look like the possible result of all the guys at Sadowsky suddenly taking up cigar smoking while on the job. ;) I'm curious as to what the general consensus is at this point regarding the roasted necks. Have they been a wild success? A flop? I don't seem to be seeing as many on the in-stock page as I was when they were first introduced, but I guess that's to be expected (?).

I can't remember, but is there some reason beyond the aesthetics for the roasting? I remember when Ernie Ball started doing it just before Roger's crew, some people were saying something about stability and all that, btu it sort of rang false to me.

EDIT: Whups, I don't know how I missed the answer up there. Me = dolt...

This new Sadowsky was just made for Hugh McDonald.. He sent me these pics today and I had to share them with you all.. It looks EFF$$@ing Beautiful!! Can I say that?

Roasted Maple with Vintagized (Vintiquity) Nitro Finish

That is absolutely killer. Gorgeous bass!

And I am extremely jealous. I have been seriously considering a Vintiquity P5 with roasted neck as my next order. The roasted maple enhances the vintage look as beautifully as I expected it would.
