Roasted Maple with Vintagized (Vintiquity) Nitro Finish

I like that fretboard. I don't like the roasted neck look, though. That being said, it's still a pretty classy axe.

EDIT: I like the string tree, but I wonder why he specified that one over the usual one?

As long as i have know him he has had the usual string tree replaced on his sadowkys.. maybe even his Alleva has one now.. I need to ask him.. But he likes the quick disconnect.. He was telling me once, but i probably wasn't listening.. Sorry Hugh if you read this... But cell phones suck...lol
His other sadowkys have 3 strings on one and 2 strings under another... This is the first 4 way one for sadowsky.. I think it is custom for his bass.. Maybe Roger will be putting them on all the new basses... If so, know i want one on mine...Makes sense with the quick release bridge...

I doubt it.

Here's the way I remember it, and Roger, feel free to correct me if I have it wrong...

Roger prefers the bar, because it puts the same angle on all the strings just past the nut. Hugh likes the other string tree for the restringing convenience just like you said Kirk.

Man, I still miss 5249 a lot, but this bass has all the same magic, a slightly more comfortable narrower nut, and about a pound less weight, which makes it insanely easy on the shoulders, and without sacrificing any of the wonderful Sadowsky tone. Love it.

Yeah, this is pretty darn close for me. My dream spec would be a 24-fret vintage PJ with reverse P, ebony board with blocks, nice figured top with a sunburst finish, and 1.75" nut. That being said I love my 24-5!

Yeah, I picked it up just barely used on the classifieds. Only 3 months old. It was MINT. I swapped the pickups...and I may be one of the only guys with a 24-5 with Big Splits (not Big Singles)!

For me it depends on the wood combination. I do find that the roasted necks sometimes look like the possible result of all the guys at Sadowsky suddenly taking up cigar smoking while on the job. I'm curious as to what the general consensus is at this point regarding the roasted necks. Have they been a wild success? A flop? I don't seem to be seeing as many on the in-stock page as I was when they were first introduced, but I guess that's to be expected (?).

The reverse P with the 24 fret neck was the plan for mine initially, but with the D/G side of the pickup right up on the neck it'd be pretty hard to slap comfortably for most i'd imagine, so I gave up the extra 3 frets

From what i understand.. They are supposed to be more stable... Not so much with straight grained regular maple but with the flamed and figured stuff ,the neck is supposed to be less prone to moving over time..
