Hey guys just had my first big gig with my 1st Sadowsky...

It's at the British Virgin Islands Music Festival, an annual weekend event held over here on the beach...opened for boyz II men (they should be coming on in a minute (without a band it seems...lame)

I played this festival a few times before but I think this the first time both the FOH and the stage crew complimented my sound (haha and the sound crew were flown in from NY, one of them said "mannnn that bass sound was really great...oh a Sadowsky, I get it...yea you aren't playing around man, New York baby!" LOL

Long story short: Thanks Roger!!! This thing is the s***!!!! :-D

I'm not able to find an exact spec for relief setting, anyone know what this is? I know Lakland recommends .008 but I can't find anything for Sadowsky.

I had switched strings recently and picked up some buzzing. I've got it worked out now with the neck almost exactly straight - .0025 - but I'm just curious what the magic number is per Sadowsky for relief.

But that's just it. There is no magic number. Seriously.

They have a stock setting, but that's not going to be magic for everyone. Once you get it into your hands, your playing style changes what will work and what won't, and when you put your own brand and gauge of strings on there, that adds more change.

Perfect example of why we just need to learn to do it, and learn to do it by feel. You get too hung up in measurements, honestly, all it does is slow you down.

All you need to know is what relief is for (mid neck buzzing), and what saddle height is for (overall action height). Once you know that, you'll know what to tweak and about how much based on how you're playing and how it's acting.

IMHO/IME, anyway.

Just one caveat... I would strongly urge anyone using this information to treat it as a "starting point". If it feels great set that way, cool. BUT, don't feel like if it's not quite there for you, you shouldn't change it... like there's something "wrong" with altering those settings to better fit your personal needs. There isn't.

Ok, I'm done soapboxing. :)

Thanks for the responses, fellas. I've been doing my own setups now for years and years - always by feel. The last time I changed strings on my MV5 it had a few buzzes that I ultimately got rid of after setting it back up. Changed strings again (trying the Dunlops that were BOGO, so far so good, btw) and was working out some buzzing.

Anywho, it just had me thinking if there was a specific relief on these that the shop recommends or sets them up to. I have had the Sadowsky setup article saved since I saw it linked on here elsewhere as I thought it would be good information to reference.
