It will be harder on a 21 fret due to the longer fretboard extension. But if you are gentle, you should be able to work it up and out without removing the neck. The 22 and 24 fret necks are easier.

Heh it's cool I was just being anal about some kinda lint/dirt that I'm seeing under the PG. maybe I'll lift it slightly and shoot some compressed air to get it out. Don't wanna mess with my setup right now, got it dialed in perfectly. Thanks though!

This is how I removed my 21 fret P Bass PG.
After removing screws > slide pc of paper under the 2 ends at the horns to protect finish > LOOSEN strings off > lift PG to clear the front pup > press down on PG just in front of the end of fretboard so it won't touch the underside of the board end when sliding it out > pull back on PG at the pup-SLOWLY.

All Sadowsky:
Fretted: NYC JJ 5 maple with ash maple top, HC'c
Fretless: NYC Modern 5, ash with pau-ferro fingerboard, EMG's...

I know for sure "Wander" was the fretless. I can't remember which else was which as I can only listen on my laptop right now.
When I can listen on a better system I'll comment more. I do know I used the fretless a lot back then.
I Think "Tied to The Rock" was also my fretless.

Mettle Flake Blue- fretless


My "typical" rig was into a Compulator and thru my GT DITTO Box Tube DI to the board.
Some are mixed better then others but they all were demo's that landed us in front of quite a few labels...

Enjoy, hate, criticize etc at will. But remember these were done like 2000-ish maybe??

Be VERY careful. Since it's clear plexi the underside is prone to showing scratching from scraping on the pup or the end edge of the fb. I would protect these areas on the pg somehow. Be creative if you attempt this removal. Is it really worth the risk? If the pg is really stiff ( see post #674 ) I would do as Roger said & remove the pup first. You may be able to leave the leads attached if they are long enough to lift out the pup enough to slide the pg from under the board. This is serious business you're attempting here.

EDIT: Plexi is susceptible to stress fracture or cracking that is progressive once it starts. I would NOT attempt to bend this PG. The strip of plexi on the top horn is narrow enough to break.

Ash body

How about a shout out to my wife for making this happen for me. Here is our conversation as follows

Me: I want another Sadowsky
Wife: Are you getting a Buckeye Burl top?
Me: It is a more expensive option.
Wife: But it's so pretty, you should get it, we'll make it work
Me: That sounds great.

I would ask about any unmarried sisters, but in reality, sisters are typically very different, so that wouldn't work. Maybe any hot unmarried like-minded friends? ;) :D

Ok, ok, just kidding... my wife and I have the next best thing... a "I just don't want to know about it" policy. :)
