Yeah, Stability, and to your later point, also aesthetics. Some wood vendors also literally call them "stabilized" figured woods on their products list. I have another brand of bass that has a stabilized birdseye board, but it's on a bass with a walnut top, on which I think it looks really great. So I guess I should sorta' partially recant my earlier comment that I wasn't much of a fan. Depends on the exact aesthetic theme of the instrument I guess.

Well, many Sadowsky necks/headstocks are "not-white" due to Vintage Tint in the nitro, and other Sadowsky headstocks are painted to match the body. But sure, sometimes regular ol' maple looks better.

I agree with Vic: depends on the overall aesthetic of the instrument. Sometimes roasted looks better imho:

Those roasted necks are stunning and would have really come in handy living down here in the tropics (I play fairly low, been tweaking the trussrod a few times since summer)...If I had only known when I ordered mine that it was an option; It apparently came out the same month I placed my order.

I know this can't be applied to an existing neck, but you think it's possible to order a new roasted neck for your existing bass (granted you send/take it to the shop to be properly fitted, etc)?

That's a new one on me?? I had always heard they would not sell replacement parts. From past Sadowsky mega-threads, more than one person has said they wanted to change to black hardware, and were told that they would not sell just the parts. Maybe it's something new??

Well, maybe if they'd ask nicely...(kidding :D )

Heard it from the big guy himself...maybe they won't for a complete hardware swap (call and ask), but I want it first and foremost for the 18mm spacing, not just aesthetics.

The stability factor is nice, but I love the darker color and option to have a figured maple neck (not just fingerboard).

There's another stock update! And, the announcement of the Sadowsky Select instruments as well! Damn, that master grade Brazilian looks good! I don't want to know its price though...
Mine won't be ready this or the next week probably :crying:, but at least I've got this stock update to look at :). There's even a lefty listed!

Also, I wonder what kind of bass will be #6000... Closest one to that now listed is #5995.

Thinking considering a new Sadowsky, and wondering about finishes. I'm getting a Brazilian board for sure and was thinking about a flame maple top with dark cherry burst and black hardware, like this:

Anyone have some real life shots of this finish they can share?

I'm wondering how dark the finish is at the edges. I thought it was black but just realized it's more of the dark cherry- duh. The other option I was considering was a '59 burst with flame maple. Can't find one with a Rosewood board, though.

I kind of like them with the pick guards, but I'm leaning towards to the more modern clean look w/o pick guard and the black hardware is always nice. No fret dots, as well.

Stage shots would be particularly welcome!

Oh, here's my confusion, I thought this was a dark cherry, but it's listed as "three tone burst".

Looks like it goes all the way to black like the 59 burst but has a bit more red in it, which I like. I still think it would look like modern take on a classic with black hardware and no pick guard, but I can't find one with that exact combo.

I think you're right in that it really goes nicely with basses that look like that. But on a general note, I'm not into it at all. Also, I share the philosophy that the Sadowsky look is that light blond maple with the black logo on it.

PS: roasted neck or no, I'd take that top one in a Montréal minute.
