Club Sadowsky!!!

Just curious: rounds or flats. I want a Sadowsky P or HPJ with one of each.

I have Sadowsky blue label rounds on that bass , on my old 74 fender P bass I have the Sadowsky flats , they are super nice strings . I have not tried Rounds on the Sad P bass yet , i will at some point but I like having a P bass with rounds and that one just sounds great. There is a post I did on youtube with that bass and you can hear all the tones pretty well if you can listen with headphones , you can pull up Sadowsky nyc vintage p bass I think. The P they build is so versatile between passive and active, great bass.

Roger said earlier in this thread that certain tops require an accent line for structural support of the top.

Yes. There's no way a spalted top would hold together without the support of the accent layer. I wasn't referring to the stability aspect, I was referring to the aesthetics. Which I really should have clarified up front, I guess... [sheepish grin]

I know I've been a "hold-out".

I've always been a "Fender Jazz Guy" and have 6 really sweet ones. I've only held a Sadowsky once in my life and
recognized the impeccable build quality but didn't fall in love with it at the time.

So this is a venture into unknown territory for me, based solely on the fabulous feedback Roger and his crew consistently gets here on TalkBass. I really admire their business model and appreciate their reputation for the best service anywhere.

I'll publish my review once I receive this baby.
I've got my fingers crossed!

Great looking bass! I don't think you need to cross your fingers, and I'm looking forward to reading your first gig report. In fact, it'd be interesting to hear your thoughts on the comparison between this bass and your current "go to" Fender J. The difference will be especially noticeable at a gig or at least playing along with a full track of music, and it won't be a better/worse thing... just different. But it'll be interesting to hear if you end up favoring Roger's take on the J sound over the original Fender J sound. I grew up with Fender J's and they've always been my "center", and even though I currently own one great J bass, I play it a LOT less than my Sadowsky.

GAS always loves company - so here's some "Red-love" for you to feast your eyes on.

Here's a pic of my current go-to Fender American Jazz Bass with EMG-X pups and a 3-way EMG Pre-amp. It looks almost identical to the Sadowsky I just bought. It's a great bass I named "Big Red".

My Sadowsky will be "Li'l Red"

I'm dying to hear and feel the differences between the two.
They're a huge difference in price, so I have high hopes.

We played @ a very big club friday night and the house soundman came up to me after the show and said you have hands down the best bass tone I have ever heard in all of my years of running sound. Then he started asking what kind of amp I was using and I handed him my Sadowsky and told him I think this is the source of what you are hearing.
