Arabesque: The elixers might be the problem; the coating can prevent proper grounding.

A fresh battery never hurt anything.

Fuzzbass: yes, this can happen with tapewounds. One solution for them is to run washers down the strings to make a better contact between the ball end and the bridge. This might work with coated strings/elixers as well.

o/t: How cool would it be to be in a band with actual strings? I'd love to see this band/ I can definitely see using a Sadowsky in this situation- effortless to get a sound.

Thought I'd throw this out to the club...

I'm looking to rearrange my stable and pick up a NYC PJ5 (would ultimately replace my Metro PJ5). So, if anyone here has a NYC PJ5 with a J body they might part with that has a purrrrty top (quilted, exotic, etc. - not interested in plain tops), ash body with a maple board (not interested in any other FB material), I'd be interested in taking it off your hands.

It really is. It has an impressive voice - not just because of the preamp, but also in passive mode.

I went through a couple of basses - but since I have this one, I feel like I'm really set. Sold everything except this J, my Sadowsky P/J and my self-conversed Yamaha BB404 fretless.
The band loves the J and the P/J - they even told me that they'd throw me out if I stopped bringing them in (they're grumpy old guys, so it's their way to show appreciation...).

Yes, that's me in the video and I am very thankful for being able to play with such a fantastic band. Everything about how it's run is very professional and everyone in the group is a pleasure to work/play with. I've had people express sympathy over the idea of my playing in a corporate events band but no sympathy is necessary! On top of it the MD gives me free reign and likes it when I play out a bit (though I do act responsibly in this regard). I'm very lucky indeed - thanks for the nice comments. :)

It is great to have strings (not only for all the pop stuff but also for the option of having the quartet play alone for cocktail sets, wedding ceremonies, etc.). Honestly, that video doesn't do the live show justice (the band is actually a lot more lively at this point). And a Sadowsky IS the perfect bass for that gig. The thing is, my current Sadowsky is a four string and a five really does work better for MRO. I've recently been using a Sadowsky preamp equipped Lull and it's been working out fantastically. But I think the Sadowsky 5 will add a further touch of class. :)

so just feeding my ever growing anticipation of when my build is going to be complete and reading through some of the older Sadowsky threads. I read a post that I thought was a pretty good idea (too bad posts can be made in to a sticky on a thread :hyper:)
Ok so i'm not going to take credit for this but just wanted to repost what he did and since the thread is closed and can't be quoted, had to redo it. It was post by Sadowsky Club member #327: -Timothy- Part 19 post#66 11/25/2010
He had a pretty good idea of posting the type of wood top that the Sadowsky Shop offers. For the click lazy folks out there that don't want to go to the master grade section on the site.......

Take some time to be quiet. Breathe. Think peaceful thoughts.
10 minutes a day, twice a day.
20 minutes is better, as brain waves really start changing at the 20 minute mark.
