Adding the VTC will NOT affect your tone negatively. With it turned all the way up, it's transparent.I have a question about the VTC. When I bought my NYC a couple of months back from the shop (it was a 1998 pre-owned), I chose it because of the 5 basses they had on hand that were for sale and available to play, IMHO, this bass had FAR AND AWAY the best tone of the lot. Frankly I felt it was in a whole other league. However, it does NOT have VTC and I am hesitant to do anything to change the circuit because it just sounds so friggin' great as it is.
I am sure that many of you have put your Sad through the installation of the VTC. What was your experience? Did it change the tone of your basses at all?
