Here is a shot of the bass when it was new. It still does not have a scratch on it today.

I have a question about the VTC. When I bought my NYC a couple of months back from the shop (it was a 1998 pre-owned), I chose it because of the 5 basses they had on hand that were for sale and available to play, IMHO, this bass had FAR AND AWAY the best tone of the lot. Frankly I felt it was in a whole other league. However, it does NOT have VTC and I am hesitant to do anything to change the circuit because it just sounds so friggin' great as it is.
I am sure that many of you have put your Sad through the installation of the VTC. What was your experience? Did it change the tone of your basses at all?
Adding the VTC will NOT affect your tone negatively. With it turned all the way up, it's transparent.
Well, what can I say that hasn't already been said...WHAT?! Don't you have an extensive Sadowsky through a Mesa M6 head review to write? You don't have time to post little stuff like this. Not allowed...not until we see that review!
Killer. I didn't use my MV5 with it this weekend, so I'll post the M6 vs B1500 info in the M6 thread, but my MV5 just destroys. You wanna' find out what Sadowsky tone is all about, do some recording... plug it into a DI and put some cans on and hear that tone cutting through the mix with the "sweetest authority" you've ever heard. Yeah, I know live they do some magic too, but the recording environment is most "telling" IMHO.
I might be in the minority here but I almost never use my VTC and certainly wouldn't miss it if it wasn't installed (I do, however, have single-coils so that might make a difference). Just a slight boost on the lows with everything else flat is tonal perfection!
I never turn the pre-amp off on my Sadowskys.
They both have the humcancelling pick-up's, I use no bass or treble boost at all, just the VTC on exactly half works great for me and I rarely move it from the centre position.
Sounds sweet to me.
