Yeah, but the issue is, it's not actually a true Rosewood. The fact that it is referred to as Bolivian "rosewood" is just misleading. It's not a member of the Dalbergia family/genus at all.

Agreed. The build quality is as high as it gets. I don't know if it sounds snobbish, but as a professional player I've got to a point where I just don't have time for imperfections be it setup or tonally. I want a bass that I know is going to play flawlessly without any buzz, has a tone that sits perfectly without much tweaking, and looks the part. Sadowsky does all of that. Frankly for the money, I don't think you can really beat the Metros.

My $.02 is that both stock and singles are killer sounding pickups but they're both a little polarizing, might be nice to also have a more fender-normal voiced pickup as an option, particularly on 5 strings where I think the HCs don't sound as good as they do on the 4s.

Added a clip of the new HCs, which sit nicely between the old HCs and the new singles IMHO. Nice!

Wow, just like that the Will Lee is sold. I must admit I was a little sad to sell this one as I bought it at the Brooklyn shop.

Well, at least I still have this cool picture!

Not to mention that my gold NYC V4PJ is not going anywhere. In hindsight, the V4 and Metro Will Lee got me to the point of my V4PJ build that I love so much.

If I remember correctly that was the first Trans Black WL in from Japan. I was going to get one as well. But, ended up buying a used NYC Tigers Eye WL here in the classifieds instead.

And I'll add this: I want a bass that doesn't have bad dead spots I have to work around, and keeps a nice fat tone everywhere on the G string.

And this: I want a bass that feels like an old friend, when I pick it up off the stand. The inspiration factor, IOW.

+1. Great post Roger

I picked up an RV4 several years ago intending to keep it for a while and then upgrade to NYC. Though I still gawk at the shop's online NYC listings, don't think this will ever happen. The RV4 is just TOO good to let go!
