I purchased from a regular retail shop in Japan IKEBE, [Invalid or Expired Link Removed] , so I am sure they´ll ship to you directly if you´d find something interesting in their inventory. It was a super smooth transaction. Highly recomended. Also check Ishibashi U_box well trusted store for good deals on 2nd hand Sadowskys.
My understanding is that there is / was a Metro limited run with roasted necks.
On the NYCs its an regular option as of the July 2010 News.

I've seen several instances lately of the "same" bass weighing exactly a few ounces more with a rosewood board vs. maple. Sure it could be the body, but I've not seen one weighing less or more than a few ounces more so I was wondering the board is the variable of if that's just coincidence in my small sampling size.

Same body woods, too? At least for the Metro line, with a maple board you're getting an ash body, and with a rosewood board, you're getting an alder body ... usually. I believe with the UV line, you can mix & match.

Thanks for your reply, so too the others who commented on this. Despite the body woods differing, I was thinking that might get normalized by the chambering (I'm not sure if they chamber until a given weight, or just chamber a given amount and take what they get).

However, some of these were Metro pairs, which aren't chambered, so there could be plenty of variation in the bodies. I knew that going in, I was just surprised by what seemed the consistency of the rosewood bass being 4 ounces heavier. It's obviously just a matter of coincidence and too small a sample group.

No, I don't really care about a few ounces either way (in case anyone's wondering). It all started with trying to justify a purchase, so logic went out the window.

Surprised it took so long for many things that are "new" in Sadowsky world, though I totally respect that he keeps it simple and marches to his own beat.

Portabag should be an upgrade for Metros. Regarding tools, IIRC you'll get the truss rod adjuster and another tool to adjust string height on the bridge saddles.

Indeed! Hears a few more pictures as promised. I have found Sherwood Green a difficult color to photograph. I am going to try it again later in the day with an outside shot to see if I can capture the color better. For now:

Thanks man! She sounds as good as she looks.

I have to give some props to Grasshopper over at Bass Central in assisting me. When I called there were no RV5's in Sherwood Green with any of the US dealers. I mentioned I was hesitant to purchase anything not in stock as weight was very important. I also mentioned some health issues I was having with my back and neck. Well, I came home last night hoping for the best, and was surprised to see the bass weighed 8.5 lbs! Not bad for the Metro line!

The nitro finish on my recent NYC Will Lee neck has become rough & sticky in spots along the bass side in the neck. Ultimately I had to lightly sand the back of the neck. I shouldn't need to do this to my bass...at least I never needed to to this with my Fender FCS instruments. Curious what is up? Anyone else experience this?
