Well, decided to do the experiment. This will be headed west. The goal is to have a counterpoint to my current 4-banger. If the experiment goes well I think a 5 may have to follow...

I saw that "in-stock" on Sadowsky site and was gob-smacked; absolutely Killer.
And yes, you are right- You do have too many basses, Nostatic, and I want to help.

Best to call Sadowsky, have them ship said instrument to me. I'll be happy to send you monthly reports of how awesome it plays, feels, and sounds.

I think this achieves the affect of making the pickguard stand out a little more while keeping the buckeye pretty visible...

Me too. I've become a bit ingrained with certain sounds so we'll have to see how flexible I am. Also I typically like to have a mid eq control but I'm betting the modern setup has plenty of baked in mids.

I really know what you speak of with mid eq - I am mostly familiar with my Laklands and the selectable mid freq with boost/cut. However, my RV5PJ is my first Sad and I am really not having any issues with the lack of it at all, band agrees.

agreed... i would never say "sounds like a p" of course, but just as pickles says here, i do feel like it has some of the p characteristics. i've even seen one played in a blues band (buddy guy) and at least imho, it sounded great. very gutsy.

A mid boost, with the front pickup soloed will get you in the ballpark but it still doesn't have the heft, bark, or upper mid cut of a P.

I don't think a ceramic loaded pickup wired internally in parallel (2 magnets in the shell wired parallel) will ever get you there.

....Just expanding on what Pickles and Vic said, not debating.

Still not many Metro options available at all... What gives? It's not as if I see a ton of options at the limited number of Metro dealers in the US.

Totally agree, the WL has true single coil Js so its closer than you are thinking, but only a P sounds like a P. Its just fun to have a J that will shift in that direction when you ask it to ... most Js, for me, don't go there at all.

I wish someone would hurry up and buy the white Ultra Vintage P in stock at the moment. My white MV4 is getting all of my play time these days and 6637 is the only stock update bass I am thinking about, despite all the gorgeous tops and roasted necks. I even asked for a price on it today. That makes it serious! Maybe I need to start looking at selling some under used basses to justify adding a new P to the (small) collection. Decisions decisions...
