Club Sadowsky!!!

Holy smokes, Mr. McNasty, you bought the 5-24! Awesome!
Yeah, I've wanted to try a Sadowsky Modern for a while. I usually have some type of "modern" soap bar pickup bass lying around and lately have been trading and buying basses to fit that spot. I had a Smith, MTD, now a Roscoe, but want to see if this less expensive Sadowsky will fit the bill. I think it will.

GAS sure is the gift that keeps on giving...

I've been enjoying my Metro rosewood/alder Vintage 5 for a while--so naturally I've started gassing for another Sadowsky!

Gotta be outta my mind to think about this NYC Will Lee: [Invalid or Expired Link Removed]

I'd be interested in any comments anyone might have to offer, as to its tone. (Yeah, it's hard to describe the fine points of an instrument's voice, but I'd appreciate whatever you have to say.) And any observations about neck shape, balance, other ergonomics, whatever.

I'm familiar with (and like) my unchambered Metro, which is rosewood/alder/stock humcanceler pups. And this is Brazilian rosewood/ash/soapbars, with a chambered body.

Hows it working out for you?

I'm reasonably confident you'll dig it…it certainly floated my boat for a long time, supplanted only by an NYC 5-24 with some ultra-congenial features!

My current 24frets / ash / maple / 60's soapbars nailed that kind of tone perfectly and that's my initial idea on the build.

Confessional time: I've accidentally gone on something of a WL binge, actually... There are two headed my way, but neither has arrived yet: the NYC and a Metro that was Timothy's, above.

The backstory is that I agreed to sell three basses I was done with to an instrument dealer to raise the dough for the NYC, so that deal was in the works. Just about the same time a bass buddy of mine (local) asked to check out my Metro ash/maple MV5, as he was thinking about getting some flavor of Sadowsky for himself. I hadn't been using it (gigging a Metro RV5 regularly), so I lent it to him for a weekend...and then a week... He had totally bonded with it, so I figured I should sell it to him! So then, I approached Timothy about his Metro WL, and now there are two headed my way.

Whew...I don't usually do stuff like this, but it felt like it all was supposed to happen, y'know?

This a forum, not a confessional. You are required to brag about things like this, not feel remorse. ;)

Plus we require photos of your "sins" in order to absolve them.
