To be clear, I am absolutely blown away by my MV4, and as much as I try other settings, I keep coming back to passive, with pickup blend a little toward the neck and VTC rolled off a little. It's exactly what I was looking for. It sounds great in the in-ears, it was like a choir of angels yesterday through my amp outside, it works perfectly. There isn't anything missing. I am getting unanimous opinion that I should have gotten this bass a long time ago from bandmates, soundguys, friends, etc., too.

I wish I'd have had this bass 10 and 14 years ago, when I was in the studio recording the two albums I've been a part of. I can see the active circuit being great for that.

Add in the build quality and good looks, and you have what I think is the perfect bass guitar.

I pulled the trigger on the Inca Silver 5 string recently posted on the Sadowsky site. I'm a Nordstrand guy but I've always wanted to try a Sadowsky and the new Satin series made it too hard to pass up. For you guys that are familiar, I'm wondering if the finish on the Satin series is similar to what they use on MTD's? I'm super excited...........now the wait begins.........:bassist:

Thx, good to know. Ive never played an NYC before, just a few Metros which were very nice. Definately different than the Nordys but still good. For what its worth, I always like your feedback on the different characteristics of the jazz basses that you are familiar with.......it definately helps when sometimes playing before purchasing isn't an option.

To your point about the passive output:
I am tooling up for a gig on Saturday, and I was actually thinking about taking my '62 J, which hasn't been on a date in awhile. So, I hauled out the gig rig (Demeter VTBP-201 w/ onboard Minnie 800 into Berg AE212), and plugged in my Sadowsky Ouboard ahead of the Demeter. And, I have to say that in comparison to the RV4, I was kind of disappointed by some of the tones I was getting. So, back in the case the '62 goes. That bass has some extremely cool tones in it, but is not nearly as versatile as the RV4. Anyhow, just for grins I put the RV4 into passive mode and cranked up the Sadowsky Outboard. YIKES! That combination is a lot more open sounding than the onboard pre. Not the same at all. So, I can see where someone might favor the passive output with the right signal chain downstream.

My RV4 just continues to amaze.

What's up with hipshot licensed tuners on Metros?
Was a bit surprised when I've read the specs and found that it wasn't the usa version of said tuners, have any of you had any problem and/or did a comparison with USA sadowskys?

EDIT: talking about 5 string models

The licensed ones are just as great as the us ones imo.
The NYC just started using 1/2" tuners not too long ago for the 5 strings so besides that there really isn't a huge difference. If it bothers you, you can always change them out to us made ones like I did =)

Got my new to me metro! Right now he bass has a glock 3 band installed.. Seller forgot to mention that to me but the original pre should be on its way to me! This is my 2nd 4 string Sadowsky and even with the glock pre it sounds and plays like a Sadowsky! Just missing that vtc...
Noticed the E tuner is slightly bent so I'll probably buy a d tuner from Sadowsky. Got a set of Sadowsky flats ready to go on it once the original pre is installed.
The bass weighs in around 8.4-8.5lbs. Not a featherweight but not a boat anchor! I actually prefer it having a bit of extra weight to it! Even though it's still considered pretty light for a bass.
Can't wait to use it next weekend at church.

I had my first studio session yesterday with the RV5- I went preamp on, bass/treb flat, pups centered, VTC rolled back about 30%. We used the DI out of my Mesa Subway D-800 as opposed to the DI box in the studio. It was pure tone heaven drool. I don't know if it was a combination of the bass and the DI or what but it put me into another place. Everything I played sounded good- even when I made a few mistakes :facepalm: .... it still sounded GOOD. I can't explain it. Me likey the RV5 quite a bit. My other bass is gonna get real lonely!

I just recieved this the other day and am very impressed to say the least. This is my first chambered bass, even knowing that ahead of time I wasn't prepared for how light it is. The next thing that jumped out at me was how even the notes were all over the board. The D and G string notes have some beef to them, which was a pleasant surprise. Fit and Finish is fantastic and at the pricepoint of these Satin series basses, I think they are going to sell alot. I hope to be able to get another one. Its been said before, but why did I wait so long to get a Sadowsky?.........my sincerest thanks to Roger and his crew also, they were very friendly throughout the entire process.
