Club Sadowsky!!!

That's great, obviously :D

Now, just get some single coils in there, and it's perfect!
(some folks prefer the HC's, not me!)

I did hours of research and kept coming back to Sadowsky. I went to the only chain in England that carry them, which was 3 hours away, and compared them with Fender Elites, Mayones and Lakland.
The sadowsky was the most expensive by some way, but it was the only bass that was pretty much perfect. The balance, neck pocket, frets and build is flawless. Not to mention the neck that is the most comfortable I've played and that sound... so clear, and a nice even low B.

England is now out of new MV5s as I bagged the last one. It weighs in a 9lbs 2. Not a featherweight, but over 1lb lighter than my Sandberg was. The next month is a mad one, with 10 gigs scheduled, so I'm really looking forward to getting to know the Sadowsky better.

I will opt with Soap bar in 60 position.
I do that for few of my sadowsky basses, because with the soapbar routing, I can do a lot of pickups experiments and switching if I wish. I have a NYC that I switch pickups from Sadowsky soapbar, Nordstrand Big Singles, Jazzbar depends on the materials I work with, pretty flexible.

You don't by chance own a store in Hong Kong, do you? Dan mentioned I was ordering a bass very similar to one that went there...

do you have a quick change blend pot, or use bullet connectors, or solder every change in?

In case you didn't see, there's some new "in stock" Sadowskys, including some new Satin Series instruments, especially a pearl white and a black cherry metallic. SO tempting...

Whoa - really digging the black cherry metallic and the Inca Silver 24 fret available right now. The price point is right for a premium bass, and I've always wanted to try a Sadowsky. It is getting harder day by day to resist.

The Modern 24-fret has the tightest, growliest bass response because the pickups are closer to the bridge than a P, J, or PJ.

If you don't want the 24-fretter, then I would suggest a "reverse PJ" -- this can be done if you are ordering NYC. If you are ordering a Metro or Satin, then go with a J-style bass as noted above. But again: the response you described is best covered by the 24.

A Modern is what I would recommend, hands down. Not only will the overall low end be tighter, the B string (at least on the couple of Moderns I've tried) is one of the best 34" Bs I've ever played.

I had noticed you have similarly fine taste!
I'm really liking the HC pickups at the moment. I may look at changing them for some singles further down the line. But my first impressions are that this is 'the' tone. My main gig is functions band work and these sit perfectly in a busy mix.

Well...I ended up going vintage because I just can't quit that vintage look. That super silver sparkle and black pickguard are going to photograph so well! I opted for Soapbars because of the ability to drag and drop different options pretty easily. Now I have 8-9 months to think about which pickups I want. Sadowsky, Big Singles, Big Splits, Fat Stacks etc.
