I just sent mine to Pat and it's ~5wk turnaround.
He advised me around 5-7 week turnaround depending on the level of work. He's doing couple more things for me than just a refinish.
Sat yesterday and played to records with the 5 string; here in front. Used the front pick up with a tiny bit of bass boost and rolled of a bit on the VTC for a pseudo P -ish tone; I was playing ballads and slow songs; and the tone was just goosebumps on my back, even on the big 135 gauge B in this fashion, the tone even though fat and round, was still clear; amazing, amazing bass. I'll never part with it! 
Fair point. Mine is a straightforward repaint, so shouldn't be too crazy. He is pretty busy and had 2 guys out, so standard small shop ebb and flow. Very nice guy to chat with and he asks a lot of questions to see what you do and don't want. Worth a phone call if you're debating a change to your bass.

I'm ordering a 5-string Sadowsky this week and I need some opinions on which pickup combo to go with. I'm looking for a tight/controlled bass response from the lower strings. Mostly play Pop and R&B. Already have a Nordy vJ5 and a Stingray 5.
P/J? Soaps? P/Soap?

Soaps in the bridge "Ken Smith" positions would be the tightest sound but does tend to thin out the treble strings a bit. Another option would be a reverse P/J where the P pickup is reversed, placing the the coil under the bass strings closer to the bridge and the coil under the treble strings closer to the neck. This would tighten the bass strings while allowing the treble strings to be a good rounder and fatter, more similar to a jazz bass.
