Loving the new Sadowsky. 2nd gig played last night, first with my primary band and they were bowled over! Had a couple of local bass players in the crowd coming up at the break checking out the bass. Still getting use to the 19mm spacing. I'm getting better. After the break it was open mic. I playing through a song I never played before in the pic.

I'm a P-Bass guy who has always found J-Basses too thin and reedy-sounding for my liking. But, gear freak that I am, that hasn't stopped me from buyings several Js over the years! Well, I just got a Sadowsky Metro MS4, and I can't get over the tone! I just compared it to my Fender AmDeluxe Jazz, and the Sadowsky is so much richer and fuller. I hear people say Sadowskys are "modern-sounding," but I find you can great sounds for vintage music, too. It sounds like a Jazz and can get that nasal tone, but I think it eats the Fender alive. Anybody else have this reaction?

I think it depends partly on the exact basses you are comparing. Some Fenders are more thin sounding than others and the same is true of Sadowskys. But no, I'm not surprised. I think Sadowskys tend to be more consistent than Fenders.
