Different neck pocket depth to compensate the string distance for current NYC Vintage/Standard or any orders without pickguard.

Agree on the feel - I find the combo of the satin nitro on the neck and satin on the body makes for a fast/comfortable bass.

Oh yeah... You mean the accent line between top/body, sometimes accent line works on particular top wood and body wood but sometimes don't, I'm fine with what the Deluxe Satin line offering now, but if it is a Koa top or Buckeye Burl top, I definitely want an accent line. :)

so for instance the NYC standard 4 in the online store would have about the same gap between body and G-string as a Satin Deluxe w/pickguard?

Trying to talk myself into one or the other - one will win tomorrow.

This one is haunting me - I have always loved the 59 burst over spalted maple. If it was satin finish body, game over

Yes to my understanding since they are all current models. They changed the design like 3-4 good years, so you should be all good :)

Since Roger seems to be listening in (Hey Roger!), I’ll just toss in my $0.019 request for an 18 mm neck profile on the 5 strings. I know the 18 mm bridge is an option, but my problem with the 5’s isn’t so much the string spacing as the “bulky” feel that the 19 mm necks have. I’m playing the WL5; and that has the 1 3/4” Nut, which is nice. But the instrument just doesn’t have that svelte feel that the vintage 4’s have. I know the shop can only manage so many options; but, that is one that would be a biggie for me. As I said $0.019. YMMV.

I do not have large hands. To me the Sadowsky neck is not skinny (thank goddess), but I wouldn't call it fat either. It's all relative: I own a few fivers with bulkier necks, and have owned other bulkier fivers in the past. So for me, the Sadowsky fiver neck profile is "medium" (objectively), and "wonderful" (subjectively).

I've had a lot of good 5'er necks over the years. Foderas tend to be quite nice and on the "fast" side of things. I would agree that the Sadowsky is sort of a medium, and it is nicely rounded on the shoulders. Smiths tend to be a U shape, some others are more of a V, the Sadowsky is in between and a good all-around choice. But it also depends on your technique. I play with my thumb behind the neck, fairly near centerline, but it does move around. An extreme U or V doesn't really work for me in the long run.

I have had this bass since 2009 but know very little about it. It was bought secondhand and I know a guy named Rob LoPrinzi used to own it before me? The bass was built I believe in the Sadowsky workshop.

The specs are:
- USA Custom Guitars two piece full size alder body with (natural) oil finish
- USA Custom Guitars maple neck with oil finish; jazz profile with 1 1/2 inch width at the nut
- Brazilian rosewood (same as on vintage Fender basses) fingerboard with beautiful grain
- Fretwork by Mike Lull
- Frets professionally polished by Sadowsky tech
- Sadowsky single coil pick-ups
- Passive Volume/Volume/Tone controls
- Gotoh bridge (similar to Sadowsky OEM)
- 70's pickup spacing

The original bass had a black pickguard but I swapped it for a tort one. Any more information on this bass is greatly appreciated!
