When I ordered my P5 I got the Portabag with it. I ordered a hard case to store it in, but I always use the Portbag whenever I leave the house.

I was lucky enough to pick up a Metro UV60 a couple of years ago, which I was told was a limited run of "vintage-style" basses from Japan with the bridge pickup in the ~you guessed it~ 60s position. It came with single coils, which I *think* were standard on that model. I love the tone, but can't really give a fair comparison to the hum-cancellors in my UV70, as the bridge pickups are in different locations and they have different wood and fingerboard combos (alder/rosewood for the UV60 versus ash/maple for the UV70). They both kick-ass, albeit in subtly different ways.
I recently bought a NYC that came with the hard shell alligator case. Really nice case but it is heavy. I bought the bass in Nashville (Corner Music) but it was a custom order through Sadowsky.
I had one briefly but I didn't like it. I prefer the Portabags for almost everything.
My Ultra Vintage P Bass came with the same case. Been in the closet untouched since I got the bass. I use a Mooradian double bag.
I had the rectangular hardshell case with a Sadowsky I owned for a few months (long story short: I prefer alder to ash). It's a nice hard case, rugged and classy. Fact is though that I'll take the Portabag over any rectangular hardshell case... or any other case for that matter (I haven't tried 'em all but I've tried quite a few).
My 2016 Metroline came in a semi-rigid case. I played a lot of gigs with that bass, and the case was wearing out, so I ordered the alligator NYC hardshell case for it. I love the hardshell. Maximum protection for my bass, and the smaller overall size fits better into my subcompact hatchback too.
I recently purchased a Satin J Bass off of the Sadowsky website. I paid an upcharge to get the same alligator hardshell case with it as I have with my Metroline. So mark me down as a fan of the hardshell case!
I have an old Access? hard case that I bought with my Red JJ4 and a Portabag that I got when I bout ElMon’s PJ5. Love both types.
I have exactly that set up. . . . well, probably different cables and strap, but what a sound.
I also have 2 Super Compacts and an AG700 that makes my Sadowsky Jazz sound amazing at high volume.
Since I have two very nice Reunion Blues gig bags, which meet my gig schlepp needs, I’ve always opted for the standard hard shell case. My new-ish NYC came with the faux alligator case, which is built like the Brooklyn Bridge. I like the hard cases for storage and moving. If I were doing fly dates, I would get a Port-a-Bag, because it seems to make the most sense for gate checking.

Took delivery of my new bass yesterday. Sadowsky Metro MV4 in transparent white. Its basically everything that I've been wanting for quite a while. Beautifully made and very full sound both through my Mesa Subway and in my IEMs. I took it on my gig last night before ever even plugging it in at home and it did a great job sonically. I did change the strings as soon as I got home from the gig as I wasn't really liking the feel of the strings that came on it, but I'm not much of a fan of the feel of most stainless strings. With my normal set of 45-100 Curt Mangan coated nickels installed I'm really excited for the gig tonight.
The finish on this bass is awesome. The way the Ash shows through and gives the transparent white just a tiny bit of pinkish hue is really great. I also had them install a detuner on this bass as I've never had one on a bass before and I kept finding myself thinking of chances to use it just a second too late on the gig last night. I think it will get lots of use.
My main player for quite a while how has been a 2000 Fender American Standard Jazz with Dimarzo Ultra Jazz and Aguilar OBP-1 that I've recently had Plek'd by Wolfe Guitars in Jupiter, FL. The Jazz really sounds good and fits me very well, but this Metro definitely raises the bar.
