Club Sadowsky!!!

Hi guys... It has been since 2010 I have been without Sadowsky. I had Metroline 5-string that I loved but back then my band got endorsed by ESP so I sold many basses including my Sadowsky. Big mistake that I regretted... Nothing against ESP but they just weren't on the same level on their basses.

Well, years passed by and many basses have gone thru my hands. Last week I got a change to trade one of my basses to Sadowsky NYC P5... When it arrived I took it to a gig and it felt like home. That bass is KILLER. Then I went to home and ordered Sadowsky Metro Express jazz to accompany my P5 My wife might kill me but dont care LOL

I have to say, these metro express basses are SOLID. It's as good as the original metro-line! Really holds up on that NYC also!

Wow, this will be a crazy early holiday present, just got an email that my Verdine White is completed and I just picked up a used Deluxe Satin J on here last week. 2 months earlier than I was originally quoted on the build time. Someone needs to buy the 2 basses I have for sale asap! This became an expensive but very rewarding month...

So I received this from FedEx today...

I've been playing it for the last few hours and I'm in awe of how great this bass sounds and plays.

And I have to stop playing every once in a while just to admire the beauty of it. That fiesta red satin finish with the blocks just does it for me every time.

Also, it's the first time I've ever received a package from Sadowsky and their packaging is the best I've ever seen in the bass industry. Just look at how nice this looks:

It will be fun Thanksgiving weekend getting a chance to break this beauty in!

Very nice! That bass is most definitely red, lol. The blocks are a really nice touch!

As an aside I played your old Modern over at Doug's today! The Nordy pups really bring a unique voice to that one.

Ha, small world! Yeah I'll miss that one because it was my first brand new Sadowsky (even though I didn't get it directly from Roger's shop), and it had a very modern aggressive jazz-like tone along with 24 frets.

But I've gotten to where I tend to gravitate more toward 20 - 21 fret basses and the Sadowsky vintage models are my favorite in the series for aesthetics.

Now I just realized I'll need to update my avatar with the new bass, ha!

Thanks man, I feel super lucky to have it! Not sure about the gigs yet, we are on hiatus until the beginning of next year with folks traveling all over. I'll be sure to let you know whenever I know if you like!

I was brushing up on my Zeppelin / JPJ this evening preparing for some upcoming gigs.
Was playing it on my Verdine P/J4. Man, that bass just purrs. It's almost too clean when compared to those original recordings, but I care not. It sounds great to me, so articulate. That one might become my Zeppelin bass too.

The single coil mode was beastly. Aggressive is a great way to put it! I'm glad I got to try it, I was wondering how those pickups would sound in this format.

We had a little "Modern Throwdown" over at Doug's today.. I brought my two - one with rounds and one with flats. It was really fun comparing the differences!

I just got a Verdine PJ5 and now want the PJ4. So tempted..... Oh, and I wish I played in a Zeppelin tribute band. Black Dog!

You’re two Verdine’s are different woods aren’t they (ash/maple vs. Alder/Ferro)?

How would you compare the two two tone-wise? Can you describe why the PJ4 may work better than the PJ5 for Zep?

I have two Sadowsky Satin 4-string J-basses from 2018. Both are blue.

I bought the Dark Lake Placid Blue one (ash/maple) in February 2018 after I had an old back injury reappear, and I was needing a lightweight bass to help. At 7.63 lbs, this bass was a miracle - it eased the back pain and really saved my playing career. It didn't hurt that it sounded awesome and was perfectly constructed, either. But the lightweight chambered body... OMG, what a difference.

After 6 months of playing it exclusively, I realized that going back to my heavier basses was not even an option for me. I didn't like not having a viable backup, so I started watching for a second 4-string Satin Jazz.

One year ago in November 2018, I bought my other Satin - the Lake Placid Blue one (alder/morado), 7.54 lbs. It is equally awesome to the DLPB one.

I love these basses, they are so incredible. They are not identical sounding but are certainly interchangeable ergonomically. The ash/maple one is a little mellower and the alder/morado is a little more aggressive, to my ear. They both get rave comments from sound guys and it honestly probably doesn't matter which one I take to a gig.

Both are awesome, and I'm thankful I found them. Happy Thanksgiving!

I am most comfortable on a four string. Love the five, don’t get me wrong. I’m just more naturally loving the four.

As to the tone difference, it’s pretty slim to me, other than the snappiness of the maple fretboard. Two flavors of the same awesomeness.
