Thanks for that. I was just going by what it said on the specs on the sellers website. I am quite comfortable with morado or pau ferro Judging by what I have read the Japanese metro might be preferable to the Warwick source models. However, my main question remains choosing between the two options.

In my experience and as stated by others, Ash/Maple is going to provide a bit more brightness and snap, with Alder/Morado being a bit more round. With that, to me, Morado is closer in sound to Maple than it is Rosewood, but finds a place in between the two. I have an NYC Will Lee 5 that has an Ash body and Morado board and, to me, it sounds closer to an Ash/Maple Bass than it does to a bass with a true Rosewood board.

Not quite. MIJ Sadowskys were made with fretboards of maple, rosewood, occasionally ebony (TYO), and very recently at the end of production, some in morado.

Nope, not Metros. He didn’t ask about, and I wasn’t referring to, the TYO line. Metros were and have always been Maple or Morado.

I am looking at buying a metro Will Lee, one of the last of the Japanese production. I have to choose between maple neck ash body or rosewood and alder. I do not have the weights. A student of mine has a Japanese Metro Will Lee 5 with a maple neck and single coils. It’s lovely to play, beautiful rolled edges and a warm tone. I love my UV70 5 with a rosewood neck, but I’d leave her for that Will Lee model!

unless it's a different spec made only for japanese dealers, it's not rosewood. standard specs for all metros is pau/morado or maple.

Great looking bass!

They’ve been called Rosewood since inception it seems, especially with the “MV” and “RV” designations seemingly for Maple and Rosewood. But the RV has always been Morado/Pao Ferro on the Metrolines.

There are exceptions to every rule. This wasn't a very widespread model but it isn't the only one.

Interesting, but also not a run-of-the-mill, regular production Metro. That one and the burgandy mist one you’ve posted about before in this thread were limited edition basses.
