That's funny - I bought him out of the Blue Label Nickels. I thought it might be enough to tide me over for 2 or 3 years but at the rate I am gigging right now, they should last me until around 2089 or so.....

The nickels were good but only lasted me a rehearsal and a gig. I felt them lose their bite half way through my third set in a gig where I filled in for a buddy in a top 40 pop gig. This was on my metro Jazz.

I tend to agree. That’s why I look for the Blue Label stainless.

For those who actually asked Japan vs Germany Metro, I won‘t say which one is better since both got different spec, but I do prefer German made one more becuase of the body/neck profile is more close to NYC’s which I actually preferred.

Regards the sounding, as long as the you played the instrument enough, with Roger‘s famous preamp onboard, they will always sound nice, not to mention, I actually love German Metro‘s Humcancelling pickup as well, they sound pretty close to NYC’s stacked version. I totally have no problem with all the German made basses I received and played.

Wow that's fast, luckily I don't have that issue. I don't sweat a ton so my nickels tend to last 5-6 months and I can eq in some byte if needed before a change.

that's typically my issue with nickels as well. i do like their sound, and they aren't as hard on frets and your fingers, but sweat just eats them alive... highly variable by player style/biology of course, but still.

that said, i do still use them, but stainless is my fave just because they're lower maintenance if you love the brilliance (as i do). maybe not an issue for someone who likes maybe a bit more of an old school sound tho.

Corner Music listed a German Metroline Will Lee and stated that it comes with a thin nitro finish. Is this true or false advertisement (maybe a misunderstanding)?

looks like they added a Will Lee pre, and signature (not the same as my Will Lee NYC) to a standard MetroLine, neck should be 1.75 not 1.87 on a Will Lee. Not sure what the deal is with the German models

Love the SBP-1 on my passive basses. My pedal 'board' is down to a Peterson Tuner with SBP-1 for passive instruments or straight to Neve RNDI for Sadowsky instruments. Compressor and overdrive sit on the shelf. Welcome to the Club!

Yes, I have noticed some dealers listing the German metroline Will Lee 4s as fitted with "hum free Sadowsky j style pickups" whereas a major appeal to me has always been the single coil pups. I assume(hope) that this is simply a result of confusion while the production shift takes place.

The German MetroLine production will have hum cancelling pickups with the exception of the Will Lee model, which has single coil pickups. Same as I have always done.

Love the P/S combo. Wish we saw more of those in the wild versus the standard P/J.
