I blame TB for all the awesome gear! I'm absolutely blessed to have it because it inspires me everyday to be a better player. Not quite in the picture but I've got my Broughtons too

I have to agree 100% with you ........however TB [ classifieds] also made it possible for me to purchase my first Sadowsky , Barefaced gear and made me aware of other gear I might not have ever known about.

It's a place where we support each other and spend each other's money. I love it though, my wife, not so much but I'm still married! Funny you mention Barefaced, I use the Two10s for indoor smaller gigs and absolutely love that cab.

My wife has always supported me , she actually told me to buy one of the NYCs Roger had in stock or order one when they reopened after the lock down so I picked up a satin seried VW 5r he had in stock . I picked up a Big Twin 2 in the classified

This NYC P-bass 4-20 managed to follow me home this week. I've always wanted to try a Sadowsky P bass. You don't see many of these in the wild. I already have two excellent P basses so I hope the bonding goes well. Oh yeah, there seems to be a J pickup installed, as well. Maybe I'll blend that in from time to time.

And now it's far far away from US... Really great one. Always wanted Sadowsky P as well. It has all proper P needs. And even more. Don't have to explain how nice is playability, craftsmanship, weight etc. But that tone!! And it has Vol Vol, so you basically have pure P and add J for extra bite. Of course pickups are perfectly balanced. So far I am extremely happy. My second P is Pino, so I have some comparison. And plan to string Sadowsky with TI as well.

I'd love to be able to find a Sadowsky NYC p bass. I don't really care for pj basses, but a straight Sadowsky P like the one Ricky Minor used on the tonight show would be wonderful. In sunburst like this one.

but... isn't the P pickup in the usual place on a PJ, making it exactly the same thing if you don't use the J pickup, and aren't the prices, especially on the used market, about the same? in other words, if you can't find a P, but did find a PJ, it would/could still fill the bill, right? that, and even offer other options if you ever wanted them someday?

I’ll probably do a NBD thread about this, but I wanted to post here first. I was looking for a five string bass, and I got sucked in and spent a bunch of time on the “recently sold” pages of the Sadowsky website. I’ve always wanted a Sadowsky, but I really didn’t want a Metro. I’m not knocking those great basses, but I wanted an NYC.

My main basses are Dingwalls, G&L’s and a Spector Euro. My new Sadowsky outclasses my G&L’s (which are incredible basses!). The Spector is a different animal entirely. The Sadowsky made me painfully aware that my Super P needed a set up.

Anyway, I found this with a seller in California. I think I am the third owner, and I doubt there will be a fourth for a good long time. I’m not sure the first two owners ever played it. This thing is indistinguishable from new, and it plays, sounds, looks, and feels even better than I hoped.

Yeah, I know it is missing a string with respect to what I was looking for. I'll manage.

I've got a real dilemma on my hands here. I have a Super P and a D-Roc as my 1-2 punch for four strings basses. We may have to add a set to the show so that I can play everything!

I've heard that do to the wiring that you don't get a true traditional p bass tone when playing just the p pickup. I don't know enough about electronics to know if this is true. I've also heard that it doesn't make a difference if it's a pj and playing the p pickup sounds just like a regular p bass. I don't know. I do know, I like a traditional P bass sound and look. I've had pj's in the past and they sound nice, but it's different. Maybe too much clarity ... I never really nailed it down as to why I don't typically care for pj's. However, I love Victor's and Verdine's pj's and they sound incredible. For me I just want a traditional Sadowsky p bass that I would more than likely use in passive mode 90% of the time like I do my other Sadowsky's.

ahhhhh... the plot thickens... i know a little bit about electronics, having done a bunch of pickup, preamp, etc. stuff myself, and this makes sense. good point. continue the search then, and good luck to you sir!

Probably depends on quality of components installed and how tight the tolerances are...

... and who's listening.

With any multiple pickup configuration, I bet there's a slight amount of bleedoff from connected components, even when they are not solo'd.

It would be a neat experiment though, with the right test equipment.

I would totally look at the TYO if I came across one. I'd also take a Metro p bass but I don't think Roger made one for the Metro series only pj.

Yea I think that was the one I was lurking on. I am glad you like it. I ended up with two Sadowsky PJs and they seem to do the trick for me for now.
