mine's not going to have those, BUT, i will say yours looks totally badass, and i don't feel it's a waste of that top. that bass looks awesome. it's all about the total package.

I wouldn't dream of changing that bass, it's awesome. Bottom line: those who don't like guards can simply order their own NYC without one. S'all good, man.
Love a good pickguard. Bass looks great!
Normally I use elixir or Dunlop strings, but on my Single Cut I like the strings that were on it.

materials mostly i think, but maybe some minor construction too. i always felt the blues were best on the J's and PJ's, where i did prefer the blacks on the "moderns" (soapbar 24f/5).

Tension between Blues and Blacks are one of the major differences. Blues have less tension whereas Blacks have a bit more tension. Blues have a mid focus and blacks seem to have a higher mid/treble focus. Both have great bass response.
I would be happy with either. But, I do like the Blues the best!

As usual Joe says it best. I suppose I lean toward black for hard rock -- partly for a bit more zing, partly because the extra tension stands up to me digging in. But I like both for any genre.
And I like Elixirs too, especially in summer when my sweat can kill an uncoated string set dead before the end of the gig.
Man that’s a killer, with a whole lotta pickups. You got to give us a sample of what that sounds like when you can. Enjoy!

Yeah, pretty sure that was Endea Owens, sporting and NYC 5-string. [Invalid or Expired Link Removed] She's great, beyond what TV allows.
I was playing the bass above last night. I was seated and wearing a T shirt. Man, the resonance from the chambered body was incredible. I could literally feel quite distinctly the pulsating energy against my stomach and ribs. Chambered bodies sing! 
I missed out on the satin and think I will hold off on the metro Japan Will Lee as it looks like the German ones are going to be both lighter and cheaper. Very much a calculated risk as there have not been enough out there to draw any conclusion on the Warwick vs Japan quality. Also the option of Warwick masterbuilt Will Lee is interesting, although at the moment they seem to be promising much but the actual product is thin on the ground. I really want to continue dealing with Bass Gear Direct in Sydney as George has never let me down, so I will wait to see what new stock he gets in.
This NYC P-bass 4-20 managed to follow me home this week. I've always wanted to try a Sadowsky P bass. You don't see many of these in the wild. I already have two excellent P basses so I hope the bonding goes well. Oh yeah, there seems to be a J pickup installed, as well. Maybe I'll blend that in from time to time.
