Club Sadowsky!!!

The price difference between the two is marginal given the satin was always aimed at making an nyc model more easily accessible. But I do prefer single coil pickups and this was what caused me to sell a metro rv4 I previously owned. With hindsight I should have swapped out the pickups. Are the humcancelling pickups in the nyc the same as in the metro?

The humcancelling pickups in all NYC basses are a big notch above the MetroLine.

It's like he senses the disturbance in the bass force.

Perhaps a question for @Sadowsky .....can I obtain a pair of higher notch humcancelling NYC pickups for my MIJ Metro Express through your online store? Not available? Just wondering. Thanks.
eventually. Once the accessories are available again, they have said that pickups will be part of that.
that may be true, but keep in mind the new NYC HC pickups, if we're talking the same new ones they came out with about a year ago or so, are stacked coils, and as such, are too deep for the routes in the MIJ MetroExpresses, so you'd also have to deal with that somehow.

I know the NYC Satin series instruments switched over to the stacked J pickups in September 2018. Here is an old website bit I captured back around that time when the Sadowsky store had some sets for sale.

Do stacked coil J pickups provide both a more true single coil tone and hum cancelling? I’ve read that placing the second coil underneath the first vastly reduces its magnetic field interaction with the strings.

It has been said that the stacked hum cancellers sound a lot more like a true single, and that that was the goal.

I currently have Sadowsky/Duncan singles in my 5 and plan to purchase a set of the Stacked HC when they are available.

Anyone know exactly what roundwound and gauge strings came on the 4 string jazz mij metroexpress? Has black on the windings. I need to order more sets of these exact strings as the tension and tone have become my favorite. Thanks

there was another goal... to have full hum cancelling on 5 string instruments, where a split coil design was not fully hum cancelling due to the asymmetrical coils.
