So you, as the customer, pay the shop so they can gain something that helps them expand their business??

That's like buying a t-shirt with a brand logo on it - you're paying to provide free advertising! (And yes, I'm wearing my Sadowsky t-shirt as I type this, and am darn proud of it!)

i know it kinda' sounds like that, but the assumption is, if they have to do a tracing, it's not a popular/common thing, it's a one-off, and they have to guarantee cost coverage with the first order.

now, if you call them and convince them they'll sell a billion of them, maybe they'll change their minds.

it's just the normal typical business case justification for new product. samo samo.

oh and i disagree with the t-shirt analogy because these pickguards won't carry their branding.

Got my new German Will Lee 5! Got delayed a few days as it was shipped before a long weekend here. It sounds great and the neck feels great!

My one complaint is that the Sadowsky strap locks are too tight and does not really fit the strap button. Has anyone else had this problem? Also because the strap button and the screw are one piece I decided to not use the strap locks as being too tight it'll just move the screw. It's probably safer that I don't use it or just replace it.

one thing about the Warwick sadowskys that I think is a downgrade is the use of the Schaller type strap locks instead of the Dunlops

Might just be the newer style Schaller S-type buttons not matching up to older style Locks. The newer S locks are the Schnizz.

You need to pull up the pin on the strap side thingie of the security locks to get them on the buttons. These security locks aren't real Schallers but rather Warwicks copy of the design. They're not working as smoothly as genuine Schaller security locks, sadly.
Same for the tuners: Not real Hipshot tuners but Warwicks copy.

Edit: To be clear, I'm only talking about he German MetroLine Basses here.

I feel the same way. That was my feedback: I bought a Sadowsky bass - that's the name on the headstock - which have come with the Dunlop locks forever, and are what people would expect to find on a Sadowsky, so that's what should be there.

Having to buy a $8 accessory (just the buttons on Amazon) on a $3000+ bass is kinda silly.

broadcasted on Monday by Hungarian state channel. Special guest was Viktor Kiraly in his last tune.
Cool funky/soul/pop band with horns, some cover songs by S. Wonder, J.Mayer, and own compositions in Hungarian language.

I feel like some of you guys are splitting hairs over the strap lock issue. When I got my first Sadowsky, all of my other basses and straps had Schaller locks. I liked the Dunlops better and replaced everything. Both Schaller and Sadowsky locks work and are quality products, it is simply a personal preference and thus replacing the buttons with my preference is a non issue for me. I actually always keep one set of Dunlops in stock, just for the case I buy a new bass that does not come with them. The buttons are $7.49 on Amazon with free one day shipping if you are a member.
