Haha! Well, let’s see - is the MKII the one with the separate OD channel?

This does not have that - barebones, super simple interface. Gain, 3-band EQ and deep and bright switches.

This was literally brand new in the box. Never sold. Paperwork listed QC date in ‘96. Unopened box - tape was yellow after sitting for years, but still sealed and never cracked. They had 3 of them. I got the second and wanted the third, but he jacked the price and I couldn’t swing it. Such an underrated tube amp - plenty of power, but not too much where you can’t crank that gain and get a bit of growl with a hair of that baked-in TE tone that is so, so good.

I also have a Reeves 225 and the only amps I could think to add to those two would be an SA200 and maybe a Verellen Meat Smoke for giggles.

I bought a V4 and V6, both NOS, from British Audio Supply back in the early 2000s.

Sold em both like a dummy. But I found my current V6 here in the classifieds and it's in fantastic shape so I'm good.

Can you give me some advice about how to use sadowsky preamp properly..

I mean, when i use it on both pickups on, i always turn bass knob 2 clicks, and i consider treble knob depending on the room, sometimes 5 clicks, sometimes none.

But i have no idea how to use it neck only or bridge only situations.

Btw, i don't have a sadowsky bass. I use sbp-2 pedal with my Fender Marcus Miller V and Sire V5 jazz basses..

I never use the treble boost. My passive basses have enough highs without it. I use the bass boost no more than 80% but usually 20-50%. Tone control on the instrument will cut any unwanted highs. These settings are pretty much fixed. Neck or bridge pickup. In my experience it’s a “set it and forget it” pedal.

By the way, I have an SBP-2 for sale in the classifieds if anybody needs one…

You will get a lot of variation in answers, largely based on different basses and pickups. For me, I tend to leave it flat to start. Then when I want the bass to sound more hyped I'll turn up both the bass and treble a little bit, typically about 20%. Back to the starting point of all the way down, if I want to roll to the bridge pickup, I tend to boost the bass control just a little bit to even it out a bit. If I want to get a P type neck pickup sound I'll turn my tone control down a little and sometimes boost the bass control a little.

The Japan MetroLine instruments are the best Sadowsky value available! Great build quality, easy to play, sound great. I have owned NYC instruments and the Japan Metroline build is right up there.

Going to stick my neck out here just for the hell of it. I have owned two Japan metrolines and played a Warwick metroline and metro express so my experience is limited somewhat. This is my ranking in order of desirability based on what I have experienced and read. Obviously totally subjective:
1. NYC sadowsky
2. Warwick masterbuilt sadowsky
3. Japan metroline
4. Warwick metroline
5. Warwick metroexpress.
Only posting this because I have had a few beers and the goal this year is to own an NYC. No knowledge at all of Japan metro express but I will try my hardest to find a used NYC that will ship down under this year.

I still haven’t been able to give the latest Metros a try but I do know that since I’ve had my two NYC Sadowskys I haven’t found any basses from any manufacturer that I like better.

I have a Japan Metroline MV5 and a Japan Metroexpress RV4 and they both have the same quality of components. I know the Japan Metroexpress was available in limited colours and options compared to the Metroline, but aside from that, they are identical in terms of quality. Just wish I bought a Japan PJ Metroexpress when I had the chance!

I’ve played most of the models and they are all Really good. A student of mine bought an NYC PJ and it’s super nice, you can tell it’s been through the eyes, hands, and care of a top luthier. I have two Japan Metrolines which are great, but the new German Metroline I’ve had this last 3 weeks is right up there too, maybe takes the photo finish. The new Metroline neck is the best of the 3, and the refinements like just a nut, stacked pickups, and light weight make a real difference for me doing the type and quantity of gigs I do.

Just curious, what is the difference between the early MIJ Metros and the Metroline basses. I have a pretty early JJ4 with an M3xx serial number. I just seem to recall at that time the MIJ basses were just Metros.

They were always MetroLines. Later we added the MetroExpress.

Yes, I must admit that the scalloped body on the newer metroline is a real plus for me too. The Warwick metroline I tried was an early one with the solid body, but I could still end up with a Warwicksky if weight becomes an issue to me. In the meantime an mij Will Lee complements my Fenders perfectly. Merry Christmas to you Mark, New Zealand's premier pro bassist.

So I'm seriously digging my 2023 Metro Express JJ 5 though keep hearing how light weight they are?

Mine not even close, comes in at 9 lb 10oz.

Is this an exception? This was actually on the lighter side of what Sweetwater had and wondering if there are lighter ones out there....
