Club Sadowsky!!!

This is a good looking option who wants a wider spaced MM style bass. It is $1,025 at Thomann’s website.

A new pickguard is a pretty easy fix.
Absolutely! I'm not a fan of the clear guards to begin with, but these really don't register as "clear" to me - they're changing the look of the finish. Except the black. So it might just be the photography, and being against the stark white background, but the picture you posted of that burst was the first time I've ever seen a Sadowsky product and reacted with "Ew, no."

That's more what my comment was about - my surprise and not liking the look! Throw a black guard on that burst and, to me, it would make ALL the difference!

(And yes, I know there are people drooling over them - just not me)

It’s not hard to find custom pickguard makers.
Tony Dudzik at Pickguardian.com does all my MetroExpress guards. I'm not a fan of the clear guards on the MM and MM/j models. I think they'd look fine with no guard at all. But I do like a clear guard on a nice burst p/j or j/j. As a matter of fact, I have a burst RSD p/j 4 with maple board coming that I got on the way cheap. That'll likely be getting the clear guard, VTC and hipshot bridge, string tree, and maybe the d-tuner.

It seems to me that these newer Metro Express basses are at the quality level Roger was wanting from the start. I'm interested in checking out the MM/J when it's available.
This Modern is number one of my list. I love that active soap bar near the bridge tone. I believe this bass will let me retire my Peavey Forum V after all of these years.

As an owner of a new MetroExpress Modern 4, I can say, the quality is excellent. I’ve owned Japan Metro, and Metroline Modern 5’s and this Chinese made version is a very close second to those. The sound is dead on Sadowsky Modern. I’ve installed the upgraded VTC plate, and that is the same unit as in the German Metroline. But the pickups sound just as good as my Japan Moderns. And 8lbs 6oz is pretty great too.

8lbs 6oz beats my 11bs 7oz Peavey! I am looking forward to getting one of these because I love the Modetn tone.
