Club Sadowsky!!!

Added a new bridge and a little bling to the White Shadow. I wasn't in the mood to wait till the seventh of never for the correct Sadowsky 19mm bridge so this no name one off of Amazon did the trick. I had the pickup cover laying around from a previous instrument and thought why not.

Interesting! I like how the back edge of the bridge lines up with the offset body contour--never seen one like that before! I'm guessing that the holes didn't line up, though?

The shape of the bridge was a coincidence for sure. And yes I did have to drill new holes. A bit nerve-wracking but it worked out. The original holes are still there underneath if I ever want to put it back on.

Can you share the link for that bridge? My bass is identical as yours, and I want the 19mm bridge too.

I personally would never depend on like bass pickguards to be the same. Just a small amount of deviation can cause mounting a new pickgaurd a lot of grief. Unless you don't mind drilling new holes, in your bass, to accommodate the new pickguard. I've found this out the hard way.

Both Roger Sadowsky and Hans Peter Wilfer (Warwick) don't even know if Japanese and German MetroLine basses have interchangeable pickguards. Don't count on ML and ME being compatible… But in the event you learn something we don't know please do tell us!

Are the neck screws on Sadowskys supposed to fall through the body and only thread into the neck holes?

My neck screws require threading through the body. See pic. It's a Metroexpress.

If I need to make the body holes larger, what bit size is recommended? Not sure what the screw size is.

Followup: my Access Stage 5 bag arrived today... FedEx' fault that I didn't get it in time for last night's gig, but no big deal. Anyway, I have two versions of the USA Sadowsky Portabag, so I compared with the more recent one which has a velcro flap at the butt end, same as the Access. Bottom line: I'm thrilled with the Access. Factor #1 for me: it's every bit as sturdy, requiring significant strength to warp/bend, unlike that one I returned. Other features are essentially equivalent.

Some say pocket space is limited on the Access, but I mostly disagree. Yeah, the large pocket on the Access is smaller than on the Portabag, but the Access has more pockets... a lot more. Some might worry about losing track of which items are in which pockets, but that's a 1st world problem IMO. The only downside I encountered: I have a 4" strap made of thick un-foldable leather that I keep rolled up. The large Sadowsky pocket has enough space to hold this, albeit awkwardly. No dice with the Access, the pockets don't billow out that much. TBH this is definitely NOT a problem for me... I haven't been in a metal band in a decade, and since then I've only used it as a novelty, e.g. Halloween. Aside from that strap (that I forgot about, TBH) I don't stuff pedals or other bulky items into case pockets, I use a padded mixer bag for misc crap like that.

TL;DR: the Stage 5 bag is a keeper, and sincere thanks to Bret at Access Cases for allowing me to make the Labor Day sale purchase, but not shipping until after I returned from vacation.
