My Japan Metroline has Hipshot ultra lite tuners the same as my Japan Metroexpress.

I have owned some good basses, like ESP Halibut, Mayones Jabba, Dtagonfly CS5, YAMAHA TRB... etc
The B string on Sadowsky Metroline (MV5, Modern 5, Germany Single cut modern 5) are better than these basses.
Sadowsky B string is 34", amazing!!!

Q for anyone who has the stacked humcancelling pickups with the splitter switch to allow single coil operation: How does the sound of the stacked coils running in single coil mode compare to the sound of straight up single coils? Same? Similar? Any significant differences.

I’m considering this modification, and would be grateful for any feedback.

I could hear hear no difference except for a mild gain bump in single coil mode. YMMV.

By which I infer that the stacked coil sound is similar to the switched single coils. Thanks.

What I am more curious about is how the single coil mode on the switched stack coils compares to straight up single coil Seymour Duncan’s; if that makes sense? I’m trying to decide whether to go with the switched stack coils or just straight up SC’s.

EMG manufactured the Sadowsky Onboard Preamp Assembly for many years. The preamp is of course the Sadowsky circuit. The current Onboard Bass preamp is made by Sadowsky Germany (Warwick).
