They sound different to me, mostly because they have different pickups and probably different strings, too.

The Metroline sounded more Coherent and Pure; Basically more 'Musical' to my ears
Don't think strings would change that maybe overall general tone
MetroExpress is excellent sounding Bass especially for price and I could be fine with it as long as I didn't have Metroline or NYC around to compare
I'd be severely tempted if it had a P-style body!

You know what, I was the same way for quite a few years. Didn't want anything to do with a J body style, always thought they just looked odd. Once I heard and played a ME I knew I wanted/needed one and it changed my mind. My two ME's are my go-to's now, I just prefer them over my P basses tonally and playability wise they're at least equally good. Still not a huge fan of the J body style but I've gotten over it.

I've been trying a bunch of different strings with my bass, nickel, SS, cobalt, coated, cryogenic, etcetera.
That being said, I realized what works for me in regard of tone and feeling.
By far, the best tone I've ever achieved was using PSD strings from Rotosound. Unbelievable tone! Shame they discontinued that line of strings...
Agreed, strings can make a significant difference. I have general preferences, but a frustrating aspect is that the strings that sound best to me on one bass might not sound the best on another, especially when there are differences in wood and pickups/electronics.
Hey guys, it’s been a minute. I’m doing a deep clean of my Sadowsky (2011 NYC Vintage PJ5…the bass in my pic) and I’m trying to get the volume knob off the shaft of the pot, but it’s not budging. I removed both hex screws out of the knob, shot some Deoxit in there, but still nothing. Any advice?
Also, I noticed the same knob has a bit of give while pulling upward, an almost springy feeling (like how the VTC feels just before you pull it all the way). AFAIK the volume knobs of that era’s preamp don’t have a pull function…right? (It’d be hilarious if I didn’t know this for 13 years LOL)

I wouldn't worry about a slight upward give when pulling up on a pot that's not meant to. A lot of pots are like that, and function perfectly fine. Sounds like it's just really stuck. Put some protective materials on the body around and under the pot before giving it a bit more of a forceful tug. My first thought was a missed hex screws, but sounds like you have that detail straight. Good luck!

The playability is top notch. I have to get used to this neck, not wider, but little more chunky than the squier I was playing till now.

Hopefully Roger brings his knowledge to this question too but: what are your opinions about wall hangers? Do you think this has any long-term impact in the bass by the pressure it may put in the hand/nut?
I have used Hercules stands (the hanging type) for years and have not had any issues with any of my basses.

I did the accidental 18v thing with an Idiotbox Blower Box, similar result. The pedal wasn't done, in fact it still worked, kinda. But it sounded crappy, and needed to be repaired to sound right.I have a Sadowsky SBP-2 and I accidentally plugged in an 18v from the power bank, it made a popping noise with a spark and a burning smell. Is my pedal done?
Don't know if this is relevant to the SBP2.
Hello, I'm planning to replace the bridge on my Metroline Modern because I prefer 18 mm string spacing. The Metroline Quick Release Bridge in 18 mm would certainly be a good solution. But have any of you ever installed a Babicz Full Contact Bridge? It's supposed to transfer the vibrations of the strings to the body better. Do you have any experience with this? I also want to replace the Sadowsky tuners with Hipshot Ultralight tuners - which size should I get? Thanks in advance!
Are you talking about a 5 string bridge?
Both of the 5 string bridges I saw on their website were 19mm (0.75").
Maybe I missed something...
