I put my Precision bass away last night and took my German MetroLine J/J to our local jam gig.
I forgot how fun this bass is to play on stage. We had full PA support in a room that fits 200-300 people (maybe only 50 people there though)... This bass is very light, effortless to play (compared to my P with flats lol), and sounded killer. Plenty of low end, plenty of mids, and a nice even sound across the strings. I appreciated how present the D & G strings are. EQ wise, I boosted the Bass/Treble about 20% and cut the VTC to taste, pickup blend right in the middle.
Setlist - Singer One
"Lovin, Touchin, Squeezin" - Journey
"Piece of my Heart" - Janis Joplin
"I'm the only one" - Melissa Ethridge
Singer Two (way different vibe)
"Goo Goo Muck" - The Cramps
"Zombie" - Cranberries
"Bloodletting" - Concrete Blond

Funnily enough I too have just rediscovered my mij Will Lee. Happened because I have just a acquired one of the new Mesa 400D amps which seems to be a perfect match for the WL. Previously my main head was a Bergantino Forte or a mesa 800+, both of which I tended to prefer with my Fenders and never quite gelled with the Sad. Into the 800D it is like a new bass, the controls really blend intuitively with the sadowsky preamp. I have to say the sunburst finish on that bass is simply flawless.View attachment 7432202
Same here. After gravitating toward other basses with vintage style frets, I’ll pick up my MetroLine Will Lee again and it’s wild how alive it feels, the whole thing just resonates nicely as one unified instrument![]()
Now I really want to get a hold of an 800D, great to know thanksFunnily enough I too have just rediscovered my mij Will Lee. I've had a couple of really top players by in the last few months since I got my 800D, they all to a man are blown away! And two of them were like I will have one by the years end. It sounds GREAT with all my Sadowsky's especially getting fed thru the Capo pre amp.Now I really want to get a hold of an 800D, great to know thanks![]()
How about a disco version of The Immigrant Song?there's octaves in disco? who knew~~~~!!!
cool video
How about WL or SC (both with mid boost). Now that I have the VTC on my Modern, I am as happy as I have ever been with a bass. I’m kind of embarrassed to say that I would love to buy another Sadowsky, this time a Metroline. This summer or fall, I may buy a nicer Modern, a JJ5, or if I can afford it, that limited edition P/Soap bar with five strings. Odds are I will never do anything except play at home and church, but I will be doing it with some really cool basses.
Besides Sweetwater, who are some other good Sadowsky dealers? I guess I can answer myself, Zzounds looks pretty good.
By the B-52's!How about a disco version of The Immigrant Song?![]()
I bought mine at Thomann (Germany). Best price I found and shipping was only about 100 Canadian $$. They have a trial period as well so you can send it back. Might not be worth it if you’re ordering from the USA but for me it definitely was!Besides Sweetwater, who are some other good Sadowsky dealers? They're all classy. I guess I slightly prefer the top one, which is like the logo on my NYC.3 logos, 3 different colours.. which one do you prefer? share your Sadowsky headstocks!
