I’m the same way.
All my 4 strings have DTuners.
I’m as good playing in a drop D as I am playing in standard E. I almost HAVE to have one these days. lol

The absolute first thing I do is buy a DTuner for any 4 string that I’ve ever owned.

And yes, it’s not a Will Lee until a DTuner is in place.
Often wondered why the German Will Lee doesn’t have one.

Could it have something to do with the two-letter abbreviation for Germany (Deutschland) being DE??? :rollno:

Sorry if this has already been discussed (I skimmed the last couple pages). Has anyone installed the new Mid Boost V2? I have a 2018ish Sadowsky J Satin NYC. The new preamp looks intriguing. I believe on the Satins the stock preamps were not hand wired like some of the other NYCs. As such, would I be losing anything by installing the new Mid Boost V2 one? I love this bass and don't want to change the general tone, but it would be cool to have the mid boost as an additional option sometimes. I.e. is the new Mid Boost V2 identical to the stock preamp when the boost is not engaged?

Edit: Also, am I correct that the aftermarket Mid Boost V2 preamp only has a single boost setting (wide at 500hz) unlike the Will Lee, which has dip switches?

You are correct. From the Sadowsky newsletter that arrived in my inbox this morning:

Mid Boost v2: Our new bass preamp with a mid boost is now available. The Sadowsky Mid Boost v2 is a simplified version of the Will Lee Mid Boost. With the flick of the mini toggle switch, a 500hz wide band boost is engaged, giving you a fuller, punchier tone.​

This is correct... a simplified, drop in version of the mid-boost preamp. Mentioned in the newsletter/stock update which went live today.

I don't believe the original Sadowsky preamp has changed in all these decades, however Will Lee asked Roger to update it with mid boosting -- at different location(s) than 300Hz. I'm fine with the Sadowsky pre as is, but it's cool that Roger found a way to accommodate those who like extra mid punch while still maintaining the inherent Sadowsky flavor.
