Nice. Even in a poor recording you can tell how great they sound in a mix. Amazing.

Thanks guys... it's my latest acquisition. It originally shipped with the P/J set prior to the current Nordstrand/Sadowsky pickups, but I've upgraded it to those since I got it. HUGE tone. HUGE. It doesn't have quite the grind and edge the ash/maple J has, but I wouldn't expect that anyway. It has a fantastic palette of tones, but in particular, the P tone is to die for. The alder and brazilian rosewood really work amazingly well together.

For some reason, with the chambered ash body, the Blue Label Sadowsky strings are the call. My favorite strings on this bass are the blue steels and nickels, with the steels getting the edge for me (despite the fact that I did NOT dig them on a lot of other basses). The bass responds really differently than a solid body jazz.

Moral of the story is: if you're trying to pick between blues and blacks, the right thing to do is order one set of each (blue and black, nickel and steel) and try them all. Every bass likes a different set best.
