Howdy Chris!
fwiw: on my RV5 I run my bass boost off when using the neck pickup, and + "a tad" when biased more towards the bridge pickup. I typically run the treble +15% or so, and then use only VTC and blend-and right hand position-to dial in whatever differences I want. Pretty simple, pretty effective.

YMMV, but, there's something else to try.

What makes a Will Lee a Will Lee? The mid bump switch? The 22 frets, The bell cover? I'm in the process of buying one and it can be a little confusing.

The defining features of the Will Lee model are:
1) 22 frets
2) 1.45" nut width
3) mid boost preamp
4) D-tuner

The Bell cover is optional and you can de-select the D-tuner if you wish. All of our wood options are available on a custom build.

Thank you for the input. I am going to start with everything off, (VTC full open though) and go from there. I agree with the less is more philosophy. I will have to practice that a little more.

Yeah, I was gonna' say the same thing... wow, that's a LOT of EQ. I think the most I've ever used on the bass is like 25-30%, and even then only if I'm favoring the bridge... maybe even strongly. I also can't remember ever boosting the treble, or if I did, just barely.

MAN I wish there was a 5 string version of this!!!!!!!!!!! 22 frets, mid boost circuit, slightly narrower nut, deeper cutaway(?).

Man, I applaud your use of fret buzz for a nice sizzle. IMHO, it's another perfect example of what I think sounds kinda' odd solo, but works so well in a mix... especially for funky stuff. Nice playing too, of course, and you GOTTA love Jamiroquai! :D
