That bass absoslutely kills! I played it at a GTG at AJBrown's house and called Sadowsky to order a similar one two days later.

I actually brought this girl on stage and helped her finger a few notes on an easier tune which the crowd loved!!!! I'm sure neither her nor the crowd new how nice this new bass is, but hey every other band in the casino that week commented on it. Love this thing!!!!

Ok, here it is... this is my Metro PJ5, ash/maple, short snippit with some short slides on the frets so you can get some high end exposure. I'm definitely hearing a SUBTLE added clarity down in the low treble range. I would not call this a night/day difference, and to be honest, in a live gig I doubt I'd notice it, though in a studio recording, I think it would give the bass a slightly better high end profile.

The 500K track is a tad fuller sounding as well, but I think that's just because I might have gotten that track slightly hotter, or I might possibly have had my right hand a little more forward to the neck than the first track, but I tried to keep things the same. Either way, it shouldn't affect the high end much if at all, so it should still be useful.

Both were recorded bass->Radial JDI->Fastrack USB->Session with no effects or eq in the software or on the bass. Fully blended position.

So I agree with Roger this was a net positive, and good move for them to switch their volume pots. However, would I urge everyone to run out and buy a bunch of pots and swap them out? Probably not. Bottom line, the bass sounds awesome either way. :)

I think there is no big difference between these 2 combos.
Morado is generally described as sounding almost as bright as maple, on this board.

Bottom line is, that the singles have more mids and the highs are a "bit lower" (as opposed to ultra-highs of the HCs)

I have SCs in my MV5 as well and I am glad, I did the swap.

Thank you. That is good to know. Maybe I should eye an M5-24 instead... or maybe that gorgeous PJ5.

If there wasn't an audible, significant difference, I would not offer the choice. Although Morado is tighter than east indian rosewood, it is audibly sweeter, warmer and smoother sounding than maple.

Thank you Roger. Is it possible to order a Metro with SC's in it? I am thinking about doing another UV70, but with a maple board. I am looking for a good 70's sound slap bass. The ash/moradao combo I have now with SC's is just dead on for fingerstyle and great for slapping, but that ultimate 70's funk sound is what I am after in the next one.

I totally agree. My Metro MV4 sounds much brighter and aggressive than my ash/morado NYC standard. The morado board is maybe not as soft-warm sounding as Brazilian rosewood but it is far from being a "darker maple board", IMO & IME.

Hi

The Sadowsky I owned the longest was an NYC JJ4, ash body/morado board/maple top. Sounded awesome. Def closer to a maple board than a typical rosewood board. Still had a nice snap if you slapped it but a warmer character when you played fingerstyle than the maple boards Ive owned. I prolly played close to a thousand shows with that bass. KILLLER

Yeah, that was the whole reason I did uncompressed wav files and short clips to keep the file sizes from being too crazy. Hopefully they've been of some use to folks.

You can convert a PJ5 to a JJ, but you cannot covert a JJ5 to a PJ. If you place a P pickup on a normal J pickguard, it breaks through the edge of the pickguard. On a PJ, we make the pickguard longer towards the bridge and shift the control plate downward as well.

I noticed that the Will Lee as a swamp ash body even on rosewood neck.

What are the advantages and disadvantages between the swamp ash VS alder with rosewood. Does it make that much of a difference.

I come from the traditional believe that alder/rosewood or ash/maple.

Can someone help me with this. I really want a Will Lee but I'm a little worry about this.
