I'm not sure how that would be a benefit. So I play a gig on Wednesday where I want a P/J configuration and then Thursday I need a J/J configuration. Sometime in there I need to warm up the soldering gun, remove screws, strings, etc. undo the wiring, pull the pup, rewire, solder, remount everything and restring. And then redo it again for the P/J gig on Saturday? I don't think so.

My NYC PJ converts to JJ, and has the quick connects. It takes about 10-15 minutes to change it over. I have a second PG and a jazz bridge pickup. Most of that time is spent on PG screws and removing/reinstalling strings.

I haven't converted it in years though. I like the PJ, and have a WL on order.

Just curious, did you get a weight on it? They don't chamber these to control weight, but I don't think they necessarily get super heavy either. The comparison page indicates they weigh 9-10.5 pounds vs the NYCs at 7.5-9, but mine ended up being relatively light for a Metro... at a little bit under 9 pounds.

This one is supposed to be 9.55 lbs. I believe it was the lightest of the 59 bursts that came in. I'm not sure what my Zon weighs but it can't be too different from that.

It's done more often than you might think. Most use quick connectors rather than soldering. Pretty cool actually.

I was unaware. Just seems easier to have 2 basses. I understand the expense of 2 basses, but I think for me it would be worth it to not hassle with swapping pups all the time.

That's pretty much the way it's worked out for me. I'd better swap the pickups in my PJ out to JJ now, because when the WL gets here, it'll probably never get converted again.

That's a good weight. Still closer to the lower end of the scale. Mine was only 8.8!!

Oh, and my Sonus 5 is even lighter... it's well under 8 pounds.

I'll have to weigh the Zon. It is a Sonus 5 Custom, ash with flame Koa top. Stupid-low action, and the Bartolini HH config has a very different sound than the Sadowsky. I'll likely sell the Zon, though part of me wants to keep it as it is a different vibe.

OT, but just to close it out, mine's a straight Sonus 5, ash body, flamed redwood top, bart JJ config, and also stupid low action if I so desire. At this point, it's the only narrow spaced 5 I have, but I love it, plus I got it from Adrian Garcia, so it also has "value" to me from that.

My Zon fretless is narrow spacing, and that was part of why I originally picked the Sonus. I'm going to need to adjust to the Sadowsky, and hopefully that won't give me fits. If worse comes to worse I can always order a Sadowsky fretless (to get back on-topic ).

Hey Moon. Now that you have the metro, you can order the Will Lee. When the WL is done, you can sell the metro and a couple other basses you'll never use again once you play it. LOL

In your opinions, would there be a big enough difference in tone between an ash bodied/morado board UV70 5'er with singles compared to an ash bodied/maple board UV70 5'er with singles?

Another question/opinion wanted. What is the tonal difference between HC's and SC's? I noticed the new UV70's all come with HC's. But mine was mod'd with SC and I love them.

I upgraded my NYC Standard 5 w/ HC pickups volume pot from 250K to the 500K pot that Roger suggested. I used a Bourns Premium 93 Series pot for my upgrade.

I just dropped off my Sadowsky Standard 4 (see my avatar pic) at my techs house for the 500K volume pot upgrade.
Again, I am using the Bourns Premium 93 Series pot since the rotation is super smooth and feels wonderful.

Gigging on Friday so both my 4 and 5 will be in action. Oh yeah, both have a fresh set of SS Blue Labels too!

This is a pic from a week long gig I just did at Harrah's Casino in Atlantic City over Halloween. My eyes are closed in the pic, but when they were open they were looking where you are thinking

I actually brought this girl on stage and helped her finger a few notes on an easier tune which the crowd loved!!!! I'm sure neither her nor the crowd new how nice this new bass is, but hey every other band in the casino that week commented on it. Love this thing!!!!
