Club Sadowsky!!!

That's awesome. You should be proud of yourself that you have that kind of discipline to save for something you really want. Good for you!

I totally agree. I went around 18 months of saving (and salivating) before I finally was able to put down my deposit and then came the 6 month wait!

DEFINITELY worth it. I cherish mine and love it more every time I play it. And I play it in good conscience - knowing I took care of business with the family, etc first.

Now I'm saving up for Sadowsky #2. My wife is really cool - we made a deal that I would only buy two basses (plus a beater), but I could get any two I wanted as long as I did it right. I'm a weekend warrior, so two Sadowskys is more bass than I'll ever need...

Hi folks,

Just found this forum after a few year hiatus from my music career (you know: family, real job...same old story).

I have really liked seeing everyone's Sadowskys....I am definitely re-inspired (wish I could get my chops back overnight!)

Both of mine were built by Ken Fallon. My main bass (#1151) is a '92, and the fretless (#1858) is a '94.

Thanks for all the great pics!

Ah! Finally some "older" Sadowsky's! :hyper: Great looking basses there for sure! Nothing like a well broken in Sadowsky I say! But I still have ya by about 4 years! Have a 1988! Mine is the only one I've seen on TB with a triple digit S/N.

I got to hear my NYC PJ "in the mix" for the first time last night as an audience member. A fellow bass player who subs for me occasionally (when my daughter has to go to the hospital) stopped by and sat in on a few songs so I got to hear someone else play it through my rig with my band.

GREAT tone!!! The PJ really sounds great through the Genz Shuttle/Berg AE410 rig. Sat perfectly in the mix.

He was seriously impressed with the bass and the sound, too. :D

I hope he's got money, 'cause you just cost him somewhere between 2-4K. :)

Well, if you're going to arrange things so that the bass is ready for your birthday, then that means you only have to wait a little over a year before actually ordering! :hyper:

That's true. I'm trying to work in a week-end in NYC to see some friends and in-laws... and sneak in a trip to the Sadowsky shop so I can play around with some sweet axes.

They used to put those Y-style tuners on their fivers? I have them on my Godin, and I'm trying to figure out if some lightweight cloverleafs will fit as drop-in replacements because I don't like the way those Ys feel.

Obviously, you have no trouble with them. Maybe it's because my fingers are really short or something...

It's a trip, let me tell you. I've never saved up this kind of dosh, over such a long time, for something like this before, so it's telling me something about myself at the same time.

For what its worth, You should go get your bass in NYC when its ready. Otherwise you will end up paying duty and taxes which could easy be in the $500 or $600. If not more.

I'm from Mtl originally. I miss it, but not at this time of year. Parle tu francais?

Oui, mais on parle un vrais mélange chez-nous because I'm an Anglo and the wife is a Franco. Also, I play in a Celtic/pop band, and we only do about four songs in French...

But let's face it: I live in a city where even the bum asking for my pocket change can do it in two languages.

And yeah, it's kinda cold right now. Though, I think I'd hate being in NYC at the moment, judging by what I'm hearing on the news...

Also, I thought that duties would be hell on a Sad, but I have a buddy who's bought two of them and it wasn't so bad. I think it's because of NAFTA or something: stuff made in the US is not so punishing on the duties anymore. I just have to figure out which is worse; the duties or NY sales tax.

Welcome to the club. :)

you are #234. It's good to see some older Sadowskys around here. :bassist:

Roadkill,

This club is for Sadowsky owners, but IMO, you deserve to be a part of the club, as a reward to the time you've been saving for one.

So unless anybody has anything to say against this, you're welcome to this club and you are #235.

P.S. If anybody has anything to say, just shut the f... up! :D
