Club Sadowsky!!!

Another +1 on the VTC! I had a MV5 years ago w/out the VTC and eventually sold it... Could not tame that beast whatsoever :crying: My current RV5 came with the VTC and absolutely love it. I know the Alder/Morado combo helps with the taming but If I we're to get another MV5...the VTC would be a must

I love the VTC:
use it to knock the edge off new strings.
use it for a more vintage tone

I like to add treble boost, and then dial back VTC. It's a great combination. I don't know why it feel different from leaving treble boost off and VTC open, but it does. Running this way also makes it a one knob sweep from more vintage to more modern via using only the VTC.

I went back and forth between "M" or "R" as I was worried the M might be too aggressive for me. My other bass is maple with a wenge fretboard and has a bit of a darker tone, so I thought the M5-24 would be a nice contrast to that and the VTC would help keep it in line.

I keep my treble and bass boosted and use the VTC as my one-knob-solution to go from thick and supportive to thick and supportive with some modern sparkle. Very convenient. Plus, IME rolling off the VTC gives these basses a funky midrange texture that really cuts thru a mix.

+1 I like it for when it's tme to provide my audience with a one knob, subsonic-ly induced involuntary loss of bio-motor control :smug:

I placed my order with Kevin Yesterday. Dont want to wish my life away but I sure wish it was done already. I sold about every bass I own to get the cash for the build. I am down to a couple 5-string Peavey Cirrus Basses. Its gonna be a long gigging summer and fall. Any way here are the specs that made the final cut for me.

5-string
Ash body
Birdseye board with vintage tint to bring out the birds eyes.
Figured maple top close to #5223 figuring and finish. (Caramel Burst )
SC PUPs
60's Spacing
Vintage style with Tort PG.
Hardshell case.

I am gonna drive up to Vics one night when he is gigging when I get it and let him put it through its paces. Vic will give you a review. LOL

Congrats! I can't wait to see it. You're like me, I sold my MTD to get a Sadowsky NYC. I've been going through so many basses, and it's always been Sadowsky which really gets my gas going.

Nice! That's the same spec as mine! I have a parchment pg, but I also had a tort cut for the bass.

Vic,

Thanks for the offer but thats not necessary. My wife and I will just enjoy getting away for a night and watching a great band.

Vic,
I got it in November. At present, I alternate between it and my black P5 (I'll try to refrain from posting that one for the hundreth time :D). If I had to choose between the two, it would be a difficult decision, but I think the nod would go to the J. I really dig the SC's!

Man, that's an amazing looking bass. I know you posted about this before, but when did you get that? Is it pretty much yer go-to bass now? And you also got the SC's like he did, right? Just makin' sure. :)

I SO hear this. I was playing my figured top'd HC JJ and my old "beater" (4098) SC JJ last night, and again, while I do dig the HC's a lot, I do prefer the SC's. Even to the point I might consider swapping pickups just to see what the chambered bass sounds like with SC's in it.

When I grabbed that old beater you are talking about saturday it took me about 30 seconds to figure out it just has the mojo. The Quilt Top with SC's would be dangerous.
