I was hangin with Will Lee last nite, we went to see Nils Landgren Funk Unit, wow what a show, .... I did hear that a WL5 proto-type is in Will's possession... but only the Sadowsky folks can confirm this

Nice one there. Today show the other day i saw James Taylor and Carole King...Needless to say, it was nice to see some guys play with GOOD vocalists (indie.arie, and a couple other great singer). CK just can't sing period man.. JT is always the man in his subtle way of course.

Yeah, that's kinda' been his thing lately. I imagine he still plays the Steinie from time to time but the DW gets a lot of air time these days.
He's mostly playing his old 'frankenFender' (the dual P thing) on the Carol King/James Taylor tour, which was the bass used to record a lot of that stuff. However, I've seen one clip with him using the Dingwall on the Today show or one of those shows during the day.
I'm not digging that tour much... sounds tired. Hard for me to listen to Kunkel after getting used to Gadd and Carlos Vega through the years (and quite frankly, Jimmy Johnson has defined James' sound in the bass chair for the last 20 years also... THAT is a bass tone, my gosh!). Something funny about the time and feel on the DVD and the few live clips I've heard with that 'Section', and definitely a lack of energy and 'push' on the performances I've seen. Also, +1 to the above comment of CK. I love Carol King... one of the great pop writers in the 20th century... but her voice is SHOT. I guess she's 70 (or almost 70).... pretty hard to keep the pipes going at that age.
Sorry for the OT... back to the idea of putting a rock hard, stable maple neck into an oven to make it 'more rock hard and stable'!

I hadn't seen him pull out the old dual P in a while. I think that is just primarily for the JT/CK tour, since that bass was used on many of James' hits. My guess is, he's playing the Dingwall for all the other freelance gigs he does.
