I should get my NYC model in a couple of months. Here are the specs:
Ash/Maple
Figured Maple Top.
59 Burst Finish W/Tort guard
Birds eye Maple Neck with Vintage tint and Ebony Blocks.
60's PU Spacing.
SC Pups
Reverse Pan on PUPS.
I feel like a kid waiting on Christmas.

My 30+ year old Gibson 335 has what looks to be cigarette burns on it...from where the nitro contacted a guitar stand. Otherwise not a ding or scratch on the entire guitar. You can guess how delighted I am about that.
The guitar stand you're looking at clearly states "safe for MOST nitro finishes"...in other words "we're not liable for ruining your guitar's finish."
I wouldn't risk it.
I always cover any rubber or foam on guitar stands with cloth. Or at least until I found these...Sadowsky sells these awesome guards on the site...

I like! From your experience, do you think these would be work-able (which might possibly include some cutting) with the Gibraltar stand I linked to above? I already have the stand and love it, so I'd like to keep it.

fwiw, I (and many others here) have used the Gibraltar stand "as-is" with Sadowsky basses without any problems.
I would.
I've been using the herc stands for a long time with my Sadowsky basses and have never had a problem. The issue I have with those fuzz things is they're only good for the kinds of stands I'd never use again. Too many close calls with a bass slipping or being bumped out of the traditional cheapie stands. I do carry a set in my case just in case I end up somewhere and that's the only kind of stand they have, and specifically the ones with that surgical type rubber that's "bad", but hercs are my pref. Note that a lot of the cheaper stands now use a totally different kind of black foam rubber, and it's fine.
Yeah, I must admit I never use those kind of stands on stage either. Just on the wall hangers and stands at home. And it does take prolonged contact to have an affect. But you can understand that after my dear 335 is scarred for life, I never leave nitro on any rubber or plastic.

That was my first Sadowsky, and a danged good one at that.Sounds like your new bass will be a real winner!
I've also used the Hercules stands with not a problem. They are definitely my favorite.

I cant wait to get the new one its gonna be awesome. But your right the UV-70 is a good one. Its the only bass I play anymore. Its been thru you and two or three other TB members. Hopefully it has a permanent home here. I can slap better on that bass than any other bass I have ever had in my hands. Did you buy it new?

). Yes, you are absolutely right, I am a fan of black/maple basses (even though I only own one of them right now). My first Sadowsky (Metro), was also black and maple, incidentally ...Anyway, it's still an ambition of mine to own a Sadowsky NYC bass, one day, but I suspect that for tonal reasons I will probably look at treading the alder/rosewood (morado) path

I think about to mod my Metro R5-24 in '59 Burst with a Tortoise Pickguard. But I guess I have to make it by myself.

You could do what I'm doing to get into the Sadowsky club: Aim for a target total in your Sadowsky Fund, then squirrel away whatever you can afford for a half-decade. It's honestly a drag, but it works. I'm actually on track for my order date...

There was one just like that on ebay a few days ago. Not sure how much it went for, but the bidding was only around $2500 when I last checked.
