Club Sadowsky!!!

OK, how long until a 24f PJ5 with the Will Lee pre-amp Metro???Just sayin'.....;)

Hey..wait a sec.......if you look closely at the pic, there is a little switch in the same spot as the switch from the Will Lee model.........Is the WL pre gonna be available in non-WL basses????

Mike,

Nice try :D....

It's actually an active/passive switch. We put a mini toggle in the same spot for those who don't want push/pull on their VTC.

Hey guys, I've been looking to take the plunge into the Sadowsky world for a while and recently saw this listing on Ebay:

http://cgi.ebay.com/Sadowsky-4-string-bass-guitar-/180582835900?pt=Guitar&hash=item2a0b9366bc

Does this seem like a good deal in your collective experience? Your thoughts are much appreciated!

Chris

Interesting. If it is an NYC 'Ultra Vintage', then it would have (most likely) a full size body (can't tell from the picture), possibly Nitro finish if it is an older one (it might be... can't tell but I can't see the concentric tone knobs, so might be without VTC...again, hard to tell for me), and single coils. Kind of a strange spec for an Ultra Vintage, since to my eye it looks like 60's pickup position with a maple board.. which is not really 'vintage'.

That all being said, for an NYC in reasonably good shape, the 'buy it now' price seems pretty good.

I would call Kevin at the shop (they are VERY cool people), and give him the serial number that is shown pretty clearly in one of the close-up photo's, and ask what the scoop is on that bass.

Edit: It does look like it has the VTC. My guess is, that is an NYC Vintage, not Ultra vintage. Still a decent price.

Boost only switch that can be set to a couple different frequencies (500 and 800) and a couple of different Q's (width of the boost). So, the amount of boost is fixed, but the nature of the mids are variable... lower or higher frequency, and a more narrow or fatter distribution of freq's around those center points. Pretty nice.

Thanks KJung. I may have to make a run to Bklyn to check one out. ;)

I can't wipe the grin off my face thinking about Mike on the phone to his wife ALL DAY today. LOL

Ok. I just have to say that i love my Metro MS-5! I've had it for an year now, and it have become my #1 bass! I've had many basses, but none of them play or sound this good! Some weeks ago our school had a little project with audiovisual students from another school, and we recorded live video of song "new york state of mind"... I just got the video and DAMN does my sadowsky sound great on that one! You can see that video here:

Thats just pure sadowsky sound thru DI box, nothing else! I love it!

Very nice!! Is this a music school? What are the average ages of the students?

Could I trouble you to add a "Sadowsky" tag to the video? Thanks.

Roger

So, I just saw that the Will Lee model is vailable in 5 string now. Can someone give me a run down on the Will Lee custom preamp? I read it has a mid control. Is is a true mid control or some kind of a "Sadowsky" version of mid control? really interested to know.

Thanks.

Congrats for this beauty!! I guess I will act like you once mine is arrived!!!! :bassist:

Massive WB fan here also... that's such a cool shot of a VERY cool dude

That's a promo shot for the "Everything Must Go" CD a few years back. He plays that Sadowsky J on the whole album & said he did a lot of muting for those tracks. It's such a pleasure to play tunes on that CD. Man - it's pocket city! The guy's just so fluent & tasteful.(my attempt at a little disambiguation) (that's some PRE S.D. trivia for ya) :smug:. Love their humour.
