Wow dude, fantastic story. On a MUCH smaller scale, I've lived through a similar thing.
There used to be a really cool little organic foods sandwich bar and jazz club right across from Krannert Center for the performing arts in Champaign IL where I work (and grew up). Nature's Table. I was LUCKY enough (as a mediocre talent "townie") to play with a lot of amazing musicians from the Music college, some of whose names I hear on the radio now on shows like Jazz with Bob Parlocha and such.
Anyway, a shortage of passable bass players in the area worked in my favor, and there were even times when musicians from the acts at the shows at Krannert would come over afterward and sit in to play stuff out of the Real Book with us. Wow, what an amazing treat. Some of those folks were MONSTERS! Humbling. Educational. Reality check time if you were feeling cocky.
Anyway, the business feigned, and the U of I reclaimed that real estate, so where it was is now part of a parking lot for a newer university building. Man, I miss that place. SO many amazing memories. *sigh*

I am extremely proud that Sadowsky is the "Official Bass of Late Night!" Mike is playing a 24F PJ 4 string with an alder body and a brazilian rosewood fingerboard. The specs previously listed are correct.

Ok. I just have to say that i love my Metro MS-5! I've had it for an year now, and it have become my #1 bass! I've had many basses, but none of them play or sound this good! Some weeks ago our school had a little project with audiovisual students from another school, and we recorded live video of song "new york state of mind"... I just got the video and DAMN does my sadowsky sound great on that one! You can see that video here:

It was inbuild DI from some warwick head they had there.
I just put it in "Pre preamp" setting on the DI, so it wont affect the tone.
And yeah. i had both pickups full, Bass/treble boosted about 40% and some VTC rolled off.
I LOVE that song, so my expectations were high. You guys sounded GREAT -- a super tribute to that tune!
