Delano’s are great very good on their own and easy to manipulate with pedals/pre-amps etc

I LOVE the stock Sandberg pickups in my passive TT4 VERY VINTAGE. I couldn't imagine wanting to go more "hi-fi" with the pickups in this bass, but I have pondered putting black labels in mine.

I love the stock Sandberg pickups in my MarloweDK. I wouldn’t replace them. I replaced my Fender Jazz CS-60 pickups with Aguilar 4J-70 which are great but I think I prefer the Sandbergs. More growly. I expect the placement of the bridge pickup on the DK (70s position) helps with the growl.
I like "growly"! Hoping that the Delanos provide that as well.
Don't quote me, ask Cuzzie, but I do not think the Delanos have as much Growl.
I had a set of Nordstrands that I really liked, ready to go in my passive TT4 when I bought it. They are still in my drawer unused. The Sandberg Alnicos are perfect.
On page 112 post #2227 someone kindly quoted me from a while back on an assessment of the various pick ups - I will stick with that, but again it’s not that the Delano’s are bad.
Growl is a difficult term and I think is centered around the mids and harmonic overtones that can be produced from various frequencies.
The beauty of Delano’s are that they will allow you sound manipulation any which way you want from the start point of a nice clean and full sound - HiFi does not mean sterile or boring with these - but if you want growl, and you have your fave EQ, preamp, tune etc you will get it with these

Hey, can anyone explain why the "set" screw needs to be loosened in order to raise or lower string height? The complexity (along with the adjustability) of the Sandberg bridge is a bit boggling relative to simpler designs.

That's what I'm hoping for! I just want a good hi-quality tone out of the box with mids that I can shape via PreAmp Pedal and EQ.
They don’t - the set screw is to lock the saddle in place for intonation - the height is the other screws
Often all 3 are loose as you are doing everything at the same time so having the ability to adjust all parameters easily is good before locking it in place

Also to mention, My TT4 Passive with Maple Neck and Sandberg Alnicos mos def gets in the Rickenbacker 4003 territory. Fact.
That's interesting. The instructions say to loosen the set screw first. I'll mess with it. Was more curious than anything (bass-curious)?

It's interesting how the aesthetics are different. So many different choices in the configurator, and I'm always surprised how people choose a different combination than what I would choose, and in the end I like it all.
Which TSBS - old ones have Seymour Duncan’s, new ones have Sandberg black label pick ups?
In feel they will be similar to a TT4 variations of different pieces of timber aside which you get per bass, hence the neck has a ‘slightly’ larger profile in that the nut width on a DK is 37mm and a TSBS/TT4 is 38-39mm.
All sig models have a slightly different pick up placement compared to say a standard TT even if it’s a few millimetres , for example the DK bridge pick up is closer to the bridge similar to the 70s position so a little more ‘bark’
TSBS is a great bass
