Yes I will probably re-wire it for passive tone\volume and put a screw in the control plate to cover the third hole. I also have an idea of ordering a piece of a plate from Sandberg with just two holes like they use in a passive version.

I would put in a multi-capacitor rotary switch in the last hole.

I put a Stellartone in my spare pickguard hole. It works really well.

Is it the one and the same thing? It's very interesting, I never came cross to it before and looks like the best way to utilise the spare hole in control plate. I need to know more about it.

Stellartone is a brand name. But, yes, essentially the same thing.

Thanks! I’ve already checked out some demo vids and found one used for sale locally for just $35! I’ll definitely give it a try. Also ordering Nordstrand NP5 pickup as a replacement.

It’s a bass six but it’s in Moscow

I used the front pickup circuit of a Bass Duo6 (which I already had) with mine and it works really well. I pretty much always use it in positions 3 or 4 which do nice things to the mids in my VS4.

I have the EMG Geezer Butler passive which is very vintage sounding (but I don't believe that they do a 5 string version sadly).

That was actually my favorite P pickup before I went 5 string, unfortunately they don’t make a 5 str version

So now I am looking for something similar to GZR but 5 string version. Probably Nordstrand NP5 will do the job.

That’s when I found a Sandberg Electra TT4 online that had been converted by a luthier in my home town, that I used to work with.

His name is Tom König, from Konig Bassworx Bass Guitars and his work is a mix of surgery precision and artistry.

Anyway, the Bass is beautiful, I’m so happy with it. What do you think?

Did anyone have a need for a finger rest between humbucker and a single pickup on California TM?

I saw one on Ida Nielsen model, only her is on VM, and finger rest lies all the way across pickguard.
On TM it should be of variable thickness, partly on wood and partly on pickguard.

Did anyone have a similar need and a solution?

No need for this thumb rest for me, never used it. Especially on two-pickup bass.

After I've spent a while with my VS5 and I think I will remove the preamp as I really prefer how it sounds in passive mode. So my next challenge is a pickup replacement. Anyone here replaced Sandberg stock P-pickup with any other one and which pickup would you recommend?

I've installed Aguilar pick-ups in a number of basses over the years and never been disappointed. But not in my Sandbergs - they are all stock.
