Yes, in passive mode the treble knob controls the tone. 0% is fully off, 50% (centre detent) is fully on, 50% to 100% doesn't make any difference.

This means that active mode and passive mode will sound almost the same with the treble knob between 0% and 50%.

It also means you can set the treble and bass knobs above 50% and then switch from passive to active to instantly dial in a scooped slap tone.

I find the passive control to be too subtle for my liking. I thought it would probably be easy to modify it so that its effect is more pronounced removing more treble, but I ended up choosing to go fully passive on this bass (VM4).

I have TT5 passive and love it so much that I also want to buy a P-bass by Sandberg, also passive, but all available ones are active so I’ll probably need to custom order.

Guys, those of you who owns, owned or played Forty Eight 5 string. Does it have balance issues and neck dive typical for this body shape?

I conversed with him and he mentioned that he just preferred a traditional bass shape. It wasn't a neck dive issue necessarily.

I didn't sell anything, but I went to try a couple of 48s as I wanted to order one, and decided to get a VM4 instead due to the (for me) bad ergonomics of the 48. Others do like it, 'though.
It's probably wise to try one first.

Ok, I see now, thanks. Sorry for confusion. I've tried one 4 string and the balance was just right but was not sure about the 5 string version, especially 35" neck which is available at one dealer in Europe now..

I actually feel most comfortable with my TT5 but the pickups configuration on 48 is killer, I liked it when tried one in a shop.

Yes I will probably re-wire it for passive tone\volume and put a screw in the control plate to cover the third hole. I also have an idea of ordering a piece of a plate from Sandberg with just two holes like they use in a passive version.

I put a Stellartone in my spare pickguard hole. It works really well.

Do the sandberg aged finishes use nitro? Or are they still poly like the highgloss finishes?

I read on the Sandberg Players FB page that it's a mixture of Nitro and Poly.
