Club Sandberg (part 2)

Quite nice club here :)

I have been thinking to join the club by purchasing a California model but I have some questions. I hope some of the Sandberg users may answer.

- I was considering P/J pickup combination but I am not sure about single jazz pickup humming noise. I wonder if Sandberg have noiseless P/J pickups.

- If I purchase a split coil humbucker pickup and run it in single coil mode (using the switch), will there be any significant sound difference relative a real single coil pickup?

the J pickup in bridge position is always hum-free, except if you're ordering especially with the AlNiCo pickups. the standard pickups have 2 coils

the MarloweDK bass has an authentic 70s pickups spacing, the TSBS is a bit different from what I know. It should be none of the traditional positions. Torsten, they guy who got it as signature bass, tried all kind of positions on a pickups test bass and picked individual ones.

btw. the regular California TT pickups positions are exactly 60s, just entirely moved 1 cm (0,39") towards the bridge.

I own a TT4 with traditional 60s positions and some with the normal sandberg positions. The sandberg way really makes sense. Sounds more clear and has a bit of a faster attack.

The 4-strings have really slim Jazz necks. You can whizz around on them like crazy. I got a TM5, though, and the neck is huge. Really, really chunky Canadian maple. It's a bit too much for my small hands. The only thing I don't like about it.

Since December I am proud owner of a VM4 :hyper:

It has a swamp ash body and is super light. Its my lightest Bass.
It was a bit neckheavy so i installed Hipshot ultra lights and now its well balanced.
The neck has a satin finish and is super smooth. This bass is very easy to play and feels great in my hands.
I ordered it with the humbucker splitswitch to have kinda pj option. I like the sound, but sure its hummin a little bit.
The colour of the mapleneck is very pale/lightish and suits the colour of the natural swam ash very nice. I did not specified it in the order, but I love it! Does have anybody else here have a Sandberg with very pale/lightish mapleneck?

Many beautifull Sandbers in this thread, i like this club! Don´t want a number though.

Man, that tobacco sunburst Jazz is so incredible! I want one just like it! ;)

Two questions:

1) Did Sandberg install the Gotoh bridge at the factory, or did you replace an original bridge with that one? If so, did you have to drill new holes for the screws?

2) How would you compare Häussel pups to Kloppmann pups? Why did you choose Kloppmann?

Hey Guys
I own both P & J Electra models, they both still have the original
factory strings.
I just noticed the strings are creating grooves in the zero fret. Is this normal, or should I loosen the truss rod a bit ?
I think the factory strings are stainless steel, could this be part of the problem ?
