Club Sandberg (part 2)

Anyone have a Sandberg with an Ebony fretboard? I'm looking at a TM4 with an ebony fretboard and wondering how it plays & if it adds enough weight to make the bass neck dive. Can't find a Sandberg locally to try out so that's why I ask.

hey. anybody knows if the california II V series have the routing for the neck PUs on top or hiding? what i mean is, since the pickguard is divided on 2 parts on the new P like models, can they be used without the top pickguard part a la Jaco, not having its nasty guts on sight? thanks in advance.

From that it looks like they have the routing hidden, but it'd probably be best for someone else to check on their California V to make sure.

Very excited to join the club with the new California VM4 I picked up today! This thing is absolutely incredible and I can't wait to break it in properly at band practice. Seems to be fairly unique due to the colour (not available on the configurator) and the reverse headstock which was apparently ordered custom for the store I purchased it from. Invalid Link Removed

This is a really beatiful bass!

I got an Electra TT4 last year. It is a great bass but the single coils are very noisy and I can't really use my balance pot. I plan to replace them with DiMarzio Model Js. Does someone here had the same problem with the bass and other suggestions for replacement pickups?

Hi All,

I am contemplating getting a Sandberg fretless built. I have a couple of questions though that I thought you all could help with. The one thing I know I want is a V (P) pickup at the neck.

1. VM (PM) or VT (PJ)? I am leaning toward the VM but haven't really played a fretless with an M pickup at the bridge.
2. Body - Basic or California? Honestly the big advantage for the basic (for me) is the black headstock. I don't care for naked stocks and it's $270 to get a matching stock on the California. Plus more "frets" on the Basic (though I do prefer the California look overall).
3. If heard rumor that their fretlesses ship with round wounds. Can anyone confirm this? Not a big deal but I also read that it's a little hard to find flatwounds that work.
4. How are the rosewood boards (fretless)? In general I prefer the sound of rosewood (over ebony) but want to make sure it's not gonna wear too badly.

Anything else I should know/consider? Basically if you have a Sandberg fretless, I'l love to hear about it.

Thanks! I'd been following it closely on the website myself. I was nearby the store a few days ago and thought I may as well give it a try... Ended up playing it through the new Darkglass amp and a 4x10 Markbass cab and it honestly sounded better than any bass I've ever heard before. I was very pleased it sounded as good when I got home to my own setup haha.

Wooohh, it looks super nice, black mecanics suit well the orange.

No issue of balance with the reverse head?
