Club Sandberg (part 2)

Does it have sandberg or Delano pickups?

I know it probably has been talked about at length on this thread before, but maybe someone can summarise for me - is there a massive difference between the Delano and sandberg pickups?

Thanks! I'd been following it closely on the website myself. I was nearby the store a few days ago and thought I may as well give it a try... Ended up playing it through the new Darkglass amp and a 4x10 Markbass cab and it honestly sounded better than any bass I've ever heard before. I was very pleased it sounded as good when I got home to my own setup haha.

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm sure Sandberg doesn't actually make pickups and the "Sandberg" pickups are made by delano for Sandberg. As in how they're different, maybe they specified them to be different or maybe they're just one of the standard delano models in a housing with the sandberg logo.

They have the Sandberg logo on the casing, pretty sure they are just rebranded Delanos though... I would also be interested to know for sure though!

EDIT - Just checked out the description for the bass on the Bass Centre website and it says "This VM4 features an Alder body, Maple neck with rosewood fretboard. Loaded with a Delano MM style humbucker in the bridge position and a reverse Delano split P in the neck". Looks like they are just put in a Sandberg stamped casing.

Awesome news!

I'm gonna be honest - I prefer the older jazz and precision shapes to the new body shape - so its great they still have the same awesome aggressive tone!

I've just replaced a Delano P on my older California VM4 with a new Sandberg neck pickup (that was on my VS4). There is a definite difference in voicing. The Delano was fatter with more going on in the low mids whereas the Sandberg P is more "open", growly and defined. The VM4 is a fairly dark bass and I'm really happy with the results. I'm not sure if the MM pickup is any different.

So there's a used passive Sandberg California TT5 up for sale nearby where I live and it's going for €700. Is this a good price? I've heard of Sandbergs being pretty damn good but I've never had the pleasure of playing one.

Well, a new passive 4 string is <1200€ Invalid Link Removed
and a new active 5er is 1500€ Invalid Link Removed
so the passive 5 string TT would probably be somewhere inbetween (assuming it's fairly standard and no custom order), but probably closer to 1300€ than 1500€. So 700€ is a bit over half the new price. It's up to you if that's a good deal.
Assuming it's in good shape I'd say it's more than worth it, Delano pickups are very high quality and the instruments themselves are just really really nice.

Picked up a Sandberg a little while ago. One of the few instruments I own that when I pick up I think to myself "this was worth every cent". I love it so much. While not a picture of mine, it's identical to this one

[Invalid or Expired Link Removed]

I'm not sure whether the finish will age nicely however, or just look bad with the occasional dings and scratches from gigging. So I guess the only change I could ever think of making to this bass would possibly be having a solid finish instead (an orange hardcore aged VM2 at my local looks amazing! It's also far more expensive than the non aged versions though hah).

Hi my freinds.

Sorry for such a long absence, nearly 2 years now, how time passes. I have had quite some things going on and little time, even didn't touch my instruments for a long long time, but this will change.

Here is an update of the list. Some pictures of those asking to join didn't load anymore so if I missed anything please let me know. I saw many new beautiful Sandbergs on here, if anyone wants a number just let me know.

SANDBERG CLUB MEMBERSHIP
Looks like member NRSSAB, who took over the role from NJXT2 hasn't been online since last year, and hasn't given any any new memberships in a couple of years. I'll pick up the role from here. I've included the list. It ends with 120 being assigned to JOCE. I've taken number #124 to leave room for a few request that I saw came in before mine. If anyone wants a Sandberg Bass Club member number, just re-bump your request and I will assign you and record your information. Thanks TB24

Also any guys out there like to comment on the VS4 please.

I am looking to sell off my G&Ls and move to Sandberg.
Love my Marlowe DK and am thinking of complimenting my J bass with a P.

What is the neck like in size compared to the MarloweDK or the TT4 ( I am aware the DK is a little thinner than the TT4)

This may also be a silly question, but I was blown away with the Sandberg Jazz pick ups and their clarity. I take it I will be equally happy with the split pick up?

Thanks
