Just picked up an used TM4 from Guitar Center a few days ago. I saw on the website then I found it was a local store so I drove over to check it out.
The shop guy that I usually deal with was there so he told me that he had played for a 10 minutes and was impressed. So, I spend some time playing it and the neck had a great feel to it. The bass tone was something that I had been looking for so I traded a Jazz Bass for it. Then, later that night, I took it to a jam and played it. It sounded great through the house band's amp. Then, took it to practice last night, it just sat in the pocket well.
I didn't play around with the preamp too much; I just added a touch of bass boost and set the treble flat, which works well for the blues band I was practicing with.

The Sandberg gig bag is pretty nicely made, as far as mfg gig bag go. I schlep mine around in a Mono Vertigo, which I love. If you're set on a hard case, then the SKB Electric Bass Rectangular Case would do nicely as it's a universal fit for normal P-bass and jazz shaped instruments.

Guys, gotta replace a bridge (material of saddles is too soft - screws overturn the tread), can someone give me any recommendations? It has to be not too pricey - shipping to Russia is expensive. Obviously original Sandberg bridge is bad advice

Send them a message in Facebook but it worked ok for half of year so I don't think it's "defective part". Thinking about Hipshot A-style bridge (if only dollar wasn't so expensive in Mother Russia...)

I've had 7 Sandbergs now, and never had a problem with the bridges, or heard of it before, so maybe you must got a bad one somehow. Sandberg are very helpful, you can email their service department [email protected]
They sometimes take a few days to reply, but should be able to help.

I had this problem once on the old Bridge but it has nothing to do with the material being too soft. It's just wrong usage, the string has to be loose if not there is just too much force on it. Same thing happened to me with a Warwick bridge too. If the screw resists then don't just turn it.

As to replacement Sandberg is usually kind enough to replace saddles with just shipping cost. Write sandberg directly or contact the dealer you got your bass from.

If you insist of replacing have a look at the options on thomann or other European sites and maybe have a friend bring it over to you from another country. And I highly recommend replacing the bridge properly with filling the holes with some hard wax and drilling new ones, the bridge is an important part to give the bass it's characteristic tone. If it's not fitted well you will loose it. It's also not hard just some more work.

I guess this is the best place to ask since all the sandberg owners are here, how does the normal sandberg bridge handle a thick B-string? I have a 5-string sandberg coming in a week or two and with balanced tension strings I'd end up with a .135 gauge B-string. The whole tapered core thing seems a bit weird to me, so if someone uses a similarly thick, normal B-string on their sandberg how does the bridge handle it? Also, were any changes to the "nut" (the one after the 0-fret) necessary?

Awesome, thanks. I suppose a normal 135, non-tapered, right? Anyway, I really want to try balanced tension, it just seems to make more sense, and that would be .040 .055 .075 .100 .135 with daddario nickelwound strings going by their calculator.

It's definitely a VM5, sandberg does all kinds of custom finishes or designs if you ask them. Check out their website and look at the "customshop" tab, some pretty wild stuff on there: Invalid Link Removed

And my classic special 5 has been shipped! Interestingly, the internal product number (not the serial number) from Sandberg is BU3-000041 (BU=bullet, which is the old name for this model and "3" meaning the special version with rarewood top I suppose). Does that mean it's the 41st classic/bullet special that they sold? Seems kinda weird, but with so many models (california and basic being much more popular) and them "only" selling ~2000 basses per year it wouldn't surprise me that much, or maybe that's completely wrong, I don't know. Anyway I'm hyped, I waited 6 months for this bass and the classic special I tested in a store was such an amazing instrument.
