Club Sandberg (part 2)

And my classic special 5 has been shipped! Interestingly, the internal product number (not the serial number) from Sandberg is BU3-000041 (BU=bullet, which is the old name for this model and "3" meaning the special version with rarewood top I suppose). Does that mean it's the 41st classic/bullet special that they sold? Seems kinda weird, but with so many models (california and basic being much more popular) and them "only" selling ~2000 basses per year it wouldn't surprise me that much, or maybe that's completely wrong, I don't know. Anyway I'm hyped, I waited 6 months for this bass and the classic special I tested in a store was such an amazing instrument.

Oh snap. This came yesterday and I haven't put it down. I've had lots of sandbergs and this one has the awe some quality and sound I'm used to. First aged sandberg and first California II. The new model has some pretty sweet tweaks and the aged finish is mint. Super happy.

Nice! A TM would have been my second choice from Sandberg, you can get tons of useful sounds out of that pickup configuration. And now that I had time to get used to mine, I have to say I love the sandberg bridge. That might be a weird thing to say, but I had tons of problems with rattling bridges or saddles in the past and this just works and is super easy to adjust.

i have always been a fan of the bridge on the sandbergs. i just love their basses overall

Soooooooooo...... This was the new bass day you mentioned a while back. Well it's looks ace and I'm glad it is ticking all the boxes for you. I am somewhat biased because I've only had Sandbergs and even though I'm still a newb I know mine will outlast me. Congrats.

I'm considering getting a black pickguard for it but am having trouble finding one. Anyone know where I pick one up?

Hi Sandberg Club, I had a chance to try a VM4 in a shop and really really like it, perfect action setup, massive sounds.

I will I will take the plunge first with a used or "stock" one and if I really like it ordered a custom next year (otherwise it's a 7-8 months wait right? brrrr)

Just one question : does the VM4 run in passive even without batteries?

You pull the volume knob out to switch it to passive mode, it completely bypasses the active electronics so it works just like a passive bass (even without any battery inserted or with a drained battery). And not only that, the treble control from the 2-band EQ turns into a classic passive tone blend in that mode as well. So no worries, they thought that one through.

Just got this one back..... I sold it and regretted it. At the buyer and I had an agreement that if it didn't work out I had first refusal and he was as good as his word. So, Ken Taylor is back in my Sandberg group.
